Walsh News Newsletter 9 6 th December 2019 1 | Page Achieving through Fellowship, Resilience and Peace Dear Parents and Carers, What a busy week this has been, I cannot believe we only have 2 weeks of term left until we break up for Christmas. The week started with our unexpected closure due to the heating, as I mentioned in my letter earlier this week, this was not an easy decision to make. Christmas play rehearsals are in full swing and all year groups are looking forward to performing ‘There’s Something Amazing Going On’, we look forward to welcoming you to our performances next week. Year 5 have performed the songs they have been learning with Singing Sarah, we have some really talented singers in Year 5. Yesterday, 2 researchers from Surrey University came to work with some of our Year 3 and 4 pupils. They are completing some research in the links between Lego skills and Maths skills. They are coming back again next week to work with a further group of children. The children enjoyed their activities and worked really hard completing the activities they were set. Today our Year 3 pupils went over to Walsh Infant School to watch their performance of ‘Everybody Loves a Baby’, they thoroughly enjoyed watching this and I am looking forward to seeing it next week. Also, we are planning on walking to St. Peter’s Church on December 17 th during the afternoon. We are short of adults to walk with the children. If anyone is able to offer to walk with us you would be very welcome. There is not room in the church to invite all parents, but if you come and help walk you will be able to join us in this pre-Christmas service. Visiting the Church is such a lovely experience for the children but we cannot walk their safely without sufficient adults. If you can help please let your childs teacher know or the school office.

Parent Pay Thank you to everyone who has signed up to ParentPay. We still have 63 children whose accounts have not been activated on ParentPay, all our communication will be coming through ParentPay, this is also where school dinners are ordered and paid for. Your seats for the Christmas production are also booked through this site. Another reminder will be sent out today to those parents who have not signed up. New Website Our new Website went live on Tuesday. We are really pleased with how the new website looks. On some mobile phones the website is looking at bit strange with a green background and lines all across it. This problem is to do with the caches in your phones / tablets, closing all internet pages should resolve this. We have spoken to our website company who have said if this doesn’t work then within a week or two your mobile devices should sort themselves out. The site should be blue and be very easy to read on your mobile or tablet. We are in the process of ensuring that all the relevant information is easy to access. Over the next couple of week we will be adding more information to the ‘Year Group’ pages, this will include spellings to be learnt over the Spring Term, the topic home learning tasks and any other relevant information. PTFA News We are very pleased to be able to share with you the grand total from the Christmas Fayre and also the amount raised by our friends at the Infant school. As a school we have raised £2446.10 plus Walsh Infant School raised £275.50 on

their Chocolate Raffle. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped in the run up to the Christmas Fayre and on the day, volunteered to run a stall, attended the event or donated items for the stalls and also the children for making Jolly Jars, designing posters and baking cakes! Without all these people’s involvement we couldn’t make this happen. This money is going to make such a difference to the reading books we are able to have on offer for the children in school. Christmas Hamper

Each year, as part of our Christmas performances, the PTFA offer some amazing Christmas Hampers. This year we have 12 fantastic Christmas hampers to raffle off at the school performances. The PTFA will be selling tickets before the beginning of each performance and will also be selling them on the playground on the morning of Friday 13th December. The raffle will be drawn at the end of that morning performance. Christmas Cards Our Christmas Post Box will be in the office at the start of next week. Children are welcome to post their Christmas Cards in here to be delivered around the school. Please make sure that cards have the child’s full name and class on them.
