Why provide secondees to WANO?WANO is a global organisation with over 300 staff operating across six locations: Atlanta, Hong Kong, London, Moscow, Paris and Tokyo. The nuclear industry is facing new challenges and WANO regularly hires experienced staff to help support plants worldwide in their efforts to improve nuclear safety in a rapidly evolving nuclear landscape.
Secondees are provided to WANO from members and stay for anywhere from one to three years. Depending on the programme area they are seconded to, they can gain in-depth knowledge of different reactor types, global operating experience and the peer review process. Each secondee brings back to their company substantial awareness of the importance of safety in a nuclear environment and closer connections with other members of the industry.
As part of their role, most secondees will be involved in at least one WANO peer review, technical support mission or workshop and all will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from nuclear professionals around the world.
