Latitude and Longitude

• Latitude and longitude work like a map grid, but on a global scale. These two sets of imaginary lines encircle the globe. Locations on these lines are stated in degrees (°).• Latitude and Longitude coordinates are

the best way to find exact location on the Earth.

•Prime Meridian: starting point for measuring longitude. It is labeled as 0⁰ and runs north/south.

•Longitude: Lines on a map used to measure distance east or west of the Prime Meridian

• Equator: line of latitude that divides the Northern Hemisphere from the Southern Hemisphere. It is labeled as 0⁰ and runs east/west.
