Warragul & District Specialist School Newsletter Term 3, Tuesday 25th August 2020
55 Burke Street (PO BOX 959) WARRAGUL VIC 3820 PH
Hi all,
It is already Week 7 of Term 3 and what a fun filled and fresh week it is!
Many Warragul locals will have had an Exciting Saturday afternoon
when a big fall of hail was dumped on backyards, front yards and
many streets in our community. Thank you to Kerry who took some
photos of our school grounds on Saturday afternoon. It was great to
talk to many students yesterday about their weekend jumping on
trampolines with ice, making snow cones and balls and even some
students freezing their collections from the weekend and bringing
them in to share with their class mates. Be sure to stay warm and dry
this week and we look forward to a taste of spring on Saturday with
weather predictions being 20 degrees!
Ali and Jess from Rubicon continue to provide our students with
fantastic activities and learning across the week, I know our junior
students are looking forward to joining them this week. We will look out
for pics in our newsletter in the coming weeks.
As the term nears closer to the end staff are beginning to look at staffing and classes for 2021.
This is always an exciting and robust process. There are many factors taken into account and
staff spend many sessions working on the best fit for each of our students.
Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) continues to develop within the school with
all students and staff working towards creating a positive school culture. Our staff
have been working on developing a handbook of SWPBS at WDSS and will be
developing a Yearly Teaching Schedule to teach each of our expected
behaviours from our matrix in 2021.
Stay Safe, Warm and Dry,
Keep Smiling

The outdoor activities with Jess and Ali from Rubicon Camp are continuing to bring
excitement and joy to our students. These activities are proving to be very popular
especially given the current restrictions do not allow for community access or
excursions. Next week the Juniors are going to join in - they are all very excited!
This weeks activities were a Nature Scavenger
Hunt - students had fun collecting their items
and putting them in their egg cartons, what a
great idea! Everyone showed off their creative
side making beautiful mosaics and artwork using
items found in the school grounds. Cooking was
banana boats with chocolate - yummy!
Room 7 students had such a wonderful time when they did the Nature Scavenger Hunt…..
Creating Art using nature - how beautiful!
Have you made Banana
Chocolate Boats? They are
super easy and delicious.
When you are putting lots on
the fire you can write your
name on the banana to make
sure you get your yummy
creation!
Students once again showing our School Values of being
by helping unpack the wood for the fire, listening to instructions and
waiting for their turn. Well done everyone!
With Spring just around the corner there are lots of jobs to be done in the garden
and that is exactly what some of our Senior Students have been doing. One of the
jobs was putting up the garden artwork they created, it looks fantastic and has
added another level of interest to the garden.
