The results show how each student is performing compared to other students at the same year level across Australia. It is important to re- member that the tests are a ‘snapshot’ of your child’s performance on a particular test on a particular day and time, compared with students across the whole country, from remote outback schools to large city schools. The results should be read in context with ongoing testing by the school. Please note that the “bands” referred to in the report do not relate to the biannual School Reports, which are based on the AusVELS National Curriculum. Parents are encouraged to discuss the report with their child’s class teacher. Further information for parents is available at http://www.naplan.edu.au/. If you have further concerns contact Sue Dean or me. FOOTY DAY This year’s Footy Day will be the biggest ever. There has been much excitement around the school this term with the cartooning project, which culminates in next week’s celebration of the Warranwood WEG Wall. Read about it further on… ASSEMBLY There will be no assembly next Monday as the Foundation students will be on an excursion to Healesville and the Middle School students will be on camp! We will have our final assembly for the term on Friday 19 Septem- ber at 2:00pm. This will enable our school community to farewell Nami, our Japanese intern. Nami has only been with is for a short time, however she has contributed so much to the students’ cultural understandings. We are very thankful to the school families who have hosted Nami in their homes. PARENTING IDEAS Last week I inadvertently left out the Michael Grose Parenting Ideas flyer, which was a Fathers’ Day special! It is still relevant this week of course!

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL REPORT Bright Pink Lipstick Pink Hope is a charity aligned with the breast cancer research. They hold a day each year encour-aging people to wear bright pink lipstick and create a fundraising opportunity with friends or col-leagues. This year the day is in the holidays. I don’t think there is anyone in our community who hasn’t been touched by this tragic illness. If you would like to support this very worthwhile endeavour there is an order form at the office. There are lapel pins, lipsticks and carry bags on offer. Please order at the office or go to www.pinkhope.org.au for more information and products. Planning Week This week the staff have been hard at work on next term’s units of work. Term 4 is always busy. Watch out for your area’s newsletter for all the details of events planned for the term.

WARRANWOOD WEG WALL There’s excitement in the air as we prepare for our upcoming event - the “Warranwood

WEG Wall” art display. This week has been ‘all hands on deck’ as students and staff have

worked together to transform our gym into an art gallery. This event will celebrate this term’s

artwork and also host a voting system that will begin the process of creating a permanent

display to be known as the ‘Warranwood WEG Wall’.

Please come along to:

Celebrate all our young artists.

Have a go at cartooning yourself and find out who ‘WEG’ was.

Vote for your favourite posters.

(A selection of the most popular posters will be used in the permanent ‘WEG wall’).

The details of our evening event are:

SPORTS NEWS

A brave decision was made to go ahead with the District Athletic Sports on Tuesday. Fortu-nately the early morning rain cleared and we completed all events. Time-table adjustments were made to allow the grass to dry as much as possible before running the tunnel ball and cross ball events. It was a long wait for students in these events as they expected to compete earlier in the day. Students who placed first in their events and those that ran in the top 2 in the 800m and 1500m proceed to the next level, the Division Sports. Congratulations to these individual winners: Connor Mc (Shot put and long jump), Jacob B (long jump), Lacy M (hurdles), Rhys H (100m and 200m), Teagan H (100m and triple jump), Ben S (discus), James H (200m) and Olivia J (200m). These 4x100m relays also won and proceed: 11 yo boys (Jacob B, Jake S, Toby B and Camp-bell P-F) and the 10 yo girls (Teagan H, Olivia J, Kenna K and Eliza W) Middle distance events saw Sophie S 2

nd (1500m and 800m) and Aiden B 2

nd (800m). Good

luck in the Division Sports. Warranwood was 3

rd overall after placing 4

th in the field events, 2

nd in the track events and 2

nd

in the ball games section. Rod Neal

NUDE FOOD DAY RESULTS Week 5 results

Total amount = 371 Thank you to everyone for organising rubbish free lunches during the last month. It makes a huge difference when we all work together to make a conscious decision about how we can make a difference to our school and local environment. Let’s all keep aiming to reduce the amount of rubbish that we bring to school. Thank you again for supporting our campaign. Greenology Team

PARENTS ASSOCIATION REPORT

Well, Melbourne turned on another beautiful day for our Dad's on Sunday.

We hope all of our Warranwood families made the most of the sunshine and spent

quality time with their Dad's and Grandad's, after opening all their special gifts

from the stall of course.

The atmosphere at the stall is always so exciting. The students learn valuable money handling skills whilst they grab a bargain and

even raise substantial funds for the school. This year, with more than 1,500 items on sale we were surprised to nearly sell out of stock.

We would like to thank the following parents for sharing their time, sales tech-

niques and crowd control skills on the day:

Sue Allan, Rosemary Wholohan, Wendy Harrison, Andrea Moran, Kelly Gersh,

Kate Bevins, Loretta Higgins, Cynthia McCarthy, Wendy Foster, Melanie Ley-

den, Jo Hales, Kirsty Webb, Donna Mitchell, Connie Panagiotopoulos, Kathy

Purcell, and Amanda Pentland.

To the junior assistants, who kept all the classes moving through on schedule.

Thank you Alex, Jackson, Camryn and Olivia.

Finally a big thank you to Brigid for the extra admin support this year and also to

Merilyn Middlin for your help in the relocation of the stall.
