Tms Volume, forming the first, it may be hoped, of a seriescontain ing the whole of the extant Warwickshire Registersdown to the year is12
, includes the Marriage Registers ofthirteen parishes.
I t will be noticed that only one Register begins at the
earliest date, 1538, many not till the seventeenth or even the
eighteenth century.
These facts very sufficien tly indicate the need of printingour Registers, for we may be quite certain that the loss and
destruction of these ancient records,which concerns every
class in the community,is by nomeans arrested, although it
may be that usually they are more carefully guarded thanformerly.
I t has not been thought needful to print the entries ver
batim. They are reduced toa common form, and the followingcontractions have been freely used

1657, and is believed tobe theoldest Roman Catholic Registerextant.
The Editors will gladly welcome help in the work of transcribing the Registers. I t is only by volunteer assistance thatit becomes feasible toissue this series of Parish Registers.

rL — The first Volume extends from 1627 to 1722 ; all before this
former date having been lost. The siz e of this one is 15} by 7inches. The material is parchment, but burials in woollen fromAugust 1, 1678, onwards are entered on paper leaves. The hand
writing is fair. The book is somewhat damaged at the edges.but has been mended and rebound.
The second Volume extends from 1679 to1745. I t overlaps theformer volume for 43 years ; size, 15 by 6 inches ; parchmentleaves and cover ; much discoloured ; ill written. I t difl

arrangement from the former volume. First come weddings fora series of years, then christenings for the same period, thenburials, and soon . There are gaps in the wedding entries from17 19 to1728, and from 1728 to1731.
The third Volume, beginning in 1745, contains weddings till 1752.baptisms and burials till 1804. Parchment, 13 by 7 inches.
The fourth Volume contains marriages from 1755 to1810. I t is the
usual paper book of pn nted forms.
These marriages have been extracted by the Rev. C. Bigg, Rector.and are now printed under his supervision. They have been
collatedwith the Registerby the Rev.W .Meraln.curate-in-charge .

Non .— The Marriage Registers of this parish are contained in five
volumes.of these the eat liest includes all entries. under separateheads, of Baptisms, 157 1-1653 ; Burials, 1573-1654. and Marriages.1571-1653. The volume consists of 26 folios of parchment,measuring 12 ‘
5 inches by 6 inches, and has recently been rebound.
I ts chief feature is the double entry of all events from 1571-1606.
The second version of this differs considerably in the spe llingof surnames. W hen such variation occurs among the Marriages,the latter spelling is placed in brackets immediately after the
former. The second volume, which, like the first, has been1ecently tebound, contains Marriages and Burials from 1653-1701
and Bapt1sms from 1657-1812 . I t consists 01 17 folios of parch
ment and measures 12 inches by 4} inches. The third volumecontains Baptisms and Burials 17 12-1780. and Marriages 17 14-1754.
The fourth volume has Marriages only. 1754-1811. The fifth of
