when trailing a series 1-0. Alex Ovechkin has earned 26 points (15g, 11a) in 20 career Game 2s. In 13 career Game 2s, Braden Holtby is 8-5 with a 1.89

most wins in the NHL during that span.

    NOTE OF THE NIGHT

    FRANCHISE LEADERS

    - The Capitals are the only team established before 1998 and one of four teams in NHL history to have their all-time franchise leaders in playoff goals,

assists, points, points among defensemen and wins among goaltenders playing concurrently on the same team.

    - Alex Ovechkin leads the franchise in playoff goals (65) and points (126). Since his playoff debut in 2008, Ovechkin is tied for first in the NHL in playoff

goals (Ovechkin: 65g in 132 games; Sidney Crosby: 65g in 163 games).

    - Nicklas Backstrom's 71 playoff assists since 2008 rank seventh in the NHL, while his 0.56 assists per game rank fifth among players with at least 70

    assists during that span.

    - Since 2014, John Carlson's 49 points (13g, 36a) in 71 games during that span rank second among all defensemen, four points shy of San Jose's Brent

    Burns for first.

    - Braden Holtby is vying to become the 21st player in NHL history to reach the 50 playoff win mark.

    TOP CAPS FACTS

    THE GREAT 8

    - Alex Ovechkin has scored 26 goals in his last 30 games, dating back to the 2019-20 season.

    - Ovechkin is in the midst of his 12th career postseason, where he currently ranks first among active players with at least 50 games in playoff goals per

game (65g in 132 games, 0.49 goals per game) and fifth in points per game (0.95 points per game). Ovechkin’s 132 career playoff games are tied for

    16th among active players.

    - Ovechkin is the franchise's all-time leader in playoff games (132), goals (65), points (126), power play goals (24), power play points (53) and game-

    winning goals (9).

    - In 33 career games played at Scotiabank Arena — which includes 25 regular season, seven playoff and one exhibition game — Ovechkin has

    recorded 40 points (28g, 12a).

    OSH-BABE

    - T.J. Oshie scored two power play goals in Game 1, passing Dino Ciccarelli (21) for the sixth most playoff goals in franchise history.

    - Oshie has scored 12 power-play goals in the playoffs since joining the Capitals in 2015-16 season, the second-most in the NHL over that span behind

    only Alex Ovechkin (14).

    - Oshie’s 0.39 goals per playoff game ranks fifth in franchise history among players with at least 30 games (Dino Ciccarelli: 0.66; Alex Ovechkin: 0.50;

John Druce: 0.47; Peter Bondra: 0.41). Additionally, his scoring per game rate is tied for ninth in the NHL among players with 30 playoff games since

    2015.

    - During the 2019-20 season, Oshie ranked second on the Capitals with 26 goals in 69 games (Ovechkin: 48g) — reaching the 25-goal mark for the

fourth straight season. Oshie also became the ninth player in franchise history to record four 25-goal seasons. Prior to joining Washington in 2015-16, he

had never reached the 25 goals mark in seven seasons with the St. Louis Blues.

    LEADING THE WAY

    - John Carlson is the franchise's playoff leader among defensemen in games (108), goals (18) and points (62). Carlson is also now one assist shy of

passing Scott Stevens (44) for the most playoff assists in franchise history by a defenseman.

    - This season, Carlson’s 75 points in 69 games (15g, 60a) led all defensemen, finishing 10 points ahead of the next highest scoring defenseman

(Nashville’s Roman Josi: 65 points) and 20 points ahead of the third-highest scoring defenseman (Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman: 55 points), who along

with Carlson are Norris Trophy Candidates.

    - Carlson’s 1.09 points per game were the highest total by a defenseman since Ray Bourque, Al MacInnis and Sergei Zubov in the 1993-94 season. As

the highest scoring defenseman, Bourque won the Norris Trophy that season.

    - Carlson was the only defenseman this season to average 1.09 points per game. The last time only one defenseman averaged at least 1.09 points per

game in a season was 1988-89 (Paul Coffey: 113 points in 75 games).

    LAR-STAR

    - Over the last four seasons, Nicklas Backstrom or Evgeny Kuznetsov have been out of the lineup for 30 total games. In those 30 games, Lars Eller has

    recorded 22 points (4g, 18a).

    - Eller established a new career high in the 2019-20 regular season with 39 points (16g, 23a) and recorded a 51.89 face-off percentage, his highest

since joining the Capitals in 2016-17.

the sixth-highest percentage by a forward with at least 69 games this season.

    ADDITIONAL NOTES

Versus the Islanders - The Capitals are 16-22 all-time against the Islanders in the playoffs. In their most prior playoff matchup in the 2015 Eastern

Conference First Round, the Capitals won the series in seven games, with Evgeny Kuznetsov scoring the series-winning goal late in the third period.

John Carlson and Nicklas Backstrom leads the Capitals with six points (Carlson: 1g, 5a; Backstrom: 3g, 3a) in eight career playoff games against the

Islanders. Braden Holtby is 3-4 all-time against the Islanders in the playoffs with a 1.97 goals against average and a .931 save percentage. Washington

split the 2019-20 regular season series, 2-2-0. John Carlson and Backstrom each led the team in scoring with five points (Carlson: 1g, 4a; Backstrom:

    5a) in four games each.

Nice and Kuzy - With an assist against the Islanders in Game 1, Evgeny Kuznetsov is now two points shy of passing Mike Ridley (60) for the fifth most

playoff points in franchise history. Since the 2018 playoffs, Kuznetsov ranks third in the NHL with 40 points (14g, 26a) in 35 playoff games, the highest

points per game rate in the NHL among players with at least 25 games played during that span (1.14ppg)

Comeback Kids - On Jan. 18 against the Islanders, the Capitals scored five unanswered goals in the third period to erase a three-goal deficit and

defeat the Islanders 6-4. Washington, which also won after overcoming a three-goal, third-period deficit on Oct. 25 at Vancouver, accomplished the feat

multiple times in a single season for the first time in franchise history. During the 2019-20 season, the Capitals won 21 games after trailing by at least

one goal, tied with the St. Louis Blues for the most instances in the NHL. Washington also held a 17-16-3 record when they allowed the first goal, the

second-highest win percentage in the NHL (.472).

Big Willy - Over the last three postseasons, Tom Wilson has averaged 0.69 points per game (22 points in 32 playoff games), tied for the sixth-highest

rate on the Capitals during that span. Wilson also leads the NHL in hits (150) over the last three postseasons.

Playoff Experiences - The Capitals playoff roster has a combined 1,1210 games of playoff experience, the second-most among remaining playoff

teams (Boston: 1,286). Additionally, Washington's 240 combined playoff goals are the most among remaining playoff teams.
