At first glance, visitors to Poughkeepsie, New York’sRecycle Depot Sanitation facility, might think that thisoperation has been a C&D recycling operation for farlonger than the five years it actually has. With RecycleDepot rollback trucks filled with construction debris, dumping their loads at regular intervals on thecenter’s tipping floor, we see the work of a well run op-eration effectively designed to handle a never endingsupply of recyclable material that comes across thescales.
“We have three scales on the property,” Joe “Peppy”Trocino points out as he takes us on a tour of the fa-cility. “We have a scale for weighing trucks that comein and one for the trucks that go out of the facility. Wehave a third scale inside the operation where we loadout the transport dump trucks that haul our unusablewaste to the landfill. That scale helps us to get the
trucks loaded with the proper weight the first time. That way, they don’t have to adjust the load when theyare ready to leave the facility. That saves us a lot oftime and frustration.”Known for his foresight and desire to “stay ahead of
the game” in business, Trocino, co-owner and CEO ofthis Duchess County recycling business recalled howdespite only being in the recycling business for thepast five years, he was well aware of the need long be-fore they were able to process C&D material.
“We began serving the area with metered concretemore than 25 years ago,” he said. “We began doingbusiness as Mid-Hudson Structural Concrete, Inc. Itwas during those years that we routinely were askedabout where C&D people could get rid of their wastematerials. As time passed, we did extensive researchand found that there was a need for a recycler to help
keep recyclable materials out of our landfills.” Trocino said that he and his wife Rita along with his
brother Constantino, began to see that the construc-tion industry in their area was heading for a down-turn. It was then that they decided that it was time toconsider making changes that would ultimately bene-fit the business and the community as well. That wasin the year 2000. It was then that the Trocino’s startedworking on the permitting process for Recycle Depot.Their site was a property that they had owned since1990.“It took five years to get appropriate approvals, per-

The Rubble Master RM 100 serves as one of Recycle Depot’s most important pieces of equipment. In this photo provided by Recycle Depot, the RM100 is being used to
produce Item 4 aggregate, Rip Rap and other sub-base materials.
Margarita “Rita” Trocino serves as CFO and office
manager.Once material has passed through the eight man picking system, the unusable remaining material is taken to a
landfill. Trocino is looking into ways to turn this unwanted material into a marketable byproduct of his recycling
business.Recycle Depot 9

mits and licensing,” recalled Rita. “By the time every-thing was in order it was 2005. That is when Peppyand Constantino (known as “Gus” to his family andfriends) began to lay out the facility. When that wasdone, they began building. On March 5, 2007, weopened the doors.”
The ProcessPeppy said that what makes their operation different
from many in the area is that Recycle Depotprocesses, sort and reduce the waste from the wastestream which is more than the typical transfer stationoffers. When the material goes onto the tipping floor, they initially shred it to a 3-foot minus material foreasier sorting and picking using a Vermeer Annihila-tor. From there, the material passes through the eightman picking station, where workers positive pickmaterial such as plastic, glass, wood, cardboard, metal, wire and concrete from the mix with theremainder of unusable material going to approvedlandfills. From the recycled materials, they are able toproduce marketable products such as topsoil andclean fill as well as wood mulch.
Rita said that in the early years of recycling, theyrented a tub grinder to grind wood into mulch, butfound that because of the need to produce a variety ofmaterials that sometimes would require a second orthird grinding, it was more cost effective and efficientfor their needs to purchase a grinder rather than rentone. So in 2011, they purchased a Diamond Z 1460Tub Grinder.
Recycle Depot specializes in colored mulch, whichthey sell in three colors, red, brown and black. “Wecolor our mulch with Greenville Colorant Powderbecause we have found that the color lasts longer afterit is put on site,” he said. “This gives our customersmore decorative material for a longer period. We sellthe mulch to landscapers and residentially in bulk. Itis available for delivery in a roll off container, if thecustomer prefers.”
This year, seeing the need for a crusher to helpexpand their recycled asphalt and concrete businessin similar fashion, they purchased a Rubble MasterRM 100 2.0 from COR Industries. Having seen theRM100 in operation at demonstrations at other loca-tions, Peppy said that his primary reason for goingwith the RM 100 was its size and quiet operation. Now, they are able to crush and screen concrete andasphalt that they receive and turn it into value-addedproducts. “With the RM 100, we make item 4 aggregate for use
as sub base material and clean fill,” he said. “Thesecrushers are powered by an onboard generationsystem that powers electric motors to do the crushing
and screening. That makes them very quiet. That is areal plus when it comes to being a good neighbor.”
“We also produce Rip-Rap and mill ends when thecustomers call for it. By owning our own machinesgives us more flexibility to make material and providespecific blends of recyclables to meet the individualcustomer’s needs,” he added. “We primarily sell thesematerials to local excavation companies.”
The PeopleTrocino said that Recycle Depot employs approxi-
mately 30 people, with the business offering a full lineof services that include six roll off trucks that servicethe 300 containers for C&D waste, that range in sizefrom 10 to 40-cubic-yards. The roll off containersavailable for construction and demolition debris, bulky waste, trash and recyclable materials thatinclude wood, cardboard, concrete, brush and metal. They offer weekly residential and recycling curbsidegarbage service throughout the Hudson Valley and areopen to all commercial haulers, remodelers and thepublic for drop off of recyclable waste. Keeping upwith the latest in recycling, Recycle Depot also offersan E-waste program.
“We accept all construction and demolition debriswhich is ideal for remodelers, small contractors andhomeowners who need a place to take their materialswhen they are doing home remodeling projects,” saidPeppy. “If someone wants to clean out their basementor garage, this is the perfect place to bring all of thatmaterial.”
Rita noted that it is their people that make thingshappen. She said that Peppy’s brother Gus takes careof the daily operations of the materials processingwhile Peppy manages the overall operation. Ritaserves as the chief financial officer while their daugh-ter Cassandra handles the weigh master responsibil-ities. Another important member of the staff is NancyThomas-Finn, director of Sales and Marketing. “Sheis the one who keeps the business coming in and
finding new outlets for our recycled products,” Ritaadded. Today, as Recycle Depot continues to grow as one of
the Hudson Valley area’s leading providers of solidwaste collection, transfer, recycling, disposal anddumpster rental services they serve as members of theU.S. Green Building Council, with certified LEEDSaccreditation for all post consumer waste both resi-dential and commercial. COR Equipment Sales, exclusivedealer for Rubble Master Equip-ment in the northeastern U.S.,first started working with RecycleDepot in 2008. “We had a smalldemonstration of an RM100 at ourfacility and we invited Peppy Tro-cino for the event,” said D.J. Cav-aliere, co-owner of COR. “This wasthe first RM100 crusher to beimported into the US. Peppy wasvery impressed with the compactsize, the low noise, the productionand especially the quality of themanufacturing of the machine.”“When the time came for RecycleDepot to consider owning theirown crusher, they came to us. Werented them an RM100 for amonth and they were completelysatisfied. In early 2012, RecycleDepot purchased their ownRM100 2.0 and it has been oper-ating at their facility since.
As a part of the purchasingprocess, COR took Peppy to Linz,Austria to the Rubble Master fac-tory. “That was on one of my cus-tomer visit trips,” said D.J. “AsRubble Master does with itscustomers, Peppy was able to seethe assembly process, the qualityof the facility and how dedicatedthe Rubble Master employees are
to the manufacturing of theirproducts and to their customer’ssuccess.” “COR Equipment wasfounded in 2006 by my brotherLou Cavaliere and me,” noted D.J.“We come from the excavation, paving and milling sector of theconstruction industry. Lou and Isaw a need for this type of ma-chine and the need for the mobilecrushing business.”“As we began the business, we
would perform mobile onsitecrushing with the Rubble Masterproduct. This gave us the oppor-tunity to learn the business andmost importantly market theRubble Master product line. Sincethen we have built a solidcustomer base, which in turn gaveour purchasing customers theopportunity to buy an RM andknow that there are customerslooking for companies to crush forthem.” “COR Equipment has grown sig-
nificantly since 2007, and by thatwe mean it has grown through ourcustomer’s successes,” he added.“Over the years, we have foundthat we do not measure our sizeby how many employees we haveor how big our facility is, we meas-ure it by how our customers have
become more profitable by startinganother revenue stream withcrushing. Unlike a typical equip-ment dealer that carries five to tenlines of equipment that requires alarge sales staff to move thatinventory, COR Equipment oper-ates differently. We want ourcustomers to think of us as a ‘per-sonal dealer,’ rather than an‘equipment dealer.’” “We offer two product lines andour anchor product is the RubbleMaster crusher,” he said. “We feelthat by concentrating on one mainproduct, we can dedicate 100 per-cent of our time to the RubbleMaster clientele. Our successescan only come from our cus-tomer’s successes. What morewould a customer want?”As of 2012 COR now maintains
over 20 Rubble Master unitsthough our Stamford, CT shop. Weprovide sales, rentals, service &parts but most of all we offer un-equalled, personal customer sup-port. Twenty-five years agoPaul joined us as themanager of a new green-waste recycling facility inBerkeley, CA, called Re-cycled Wood Products,Inc., a real gamble forhim as recycling woodand greenwaste was notactually considered recy-cling in the 1980s and
there were no markets forthe finished products.Paul’s dedication and en-thusiasm helped us es-tablish some of the firstwood and greenwaste re-cycling facilities in thecountry; including facili-ties in Hurffville, NJ(south of Camden),Woburn, MA (north ofBoston), Tampa, FL, andBerkeley, CA. where we
demonstrated how to re-cycle greenwaste materi-als into something useful. The facilities were thefirst permitted sites inseveral states and wereon the conference circuitday trips where manypublic officials were ableto see for the first timehow they could recycletheir greenwaste. Afterworking with our recy- cling facilities for several
years Paul moved on toselling new grinders andother wood and green-waste recycling equip-ment throughout thewestern states.

Hey Grinder Guy, does it make a dif-ference what type of hole I use on myGrinder Screens?
This is one of the most overused ben-efits made by all kinds of Salespeople,Operators and Manufacturers.
My screens are round and they giveme a better product!
My screens are hexagons and theygive me a better product!
My screens are a square and they giveme a better product!
I’ve heard it all. And all may be cor-rect. They all may be wrong also.
So lets figure out what they are reallysaying.
Here are some facts:• The same size hole does not give the
same size product in all materials.Green wood is different than dry wood, logs are different than yard waste, etc.The more moisture in materials, youwill need a larger screen to be able togrind it. Dry wood requires a smallerscreen because you need much morecutting action on all the pieces for con-sistency.
• The thicker the screen, the morebaffling effect you will get, which meansmore fines
• Screens cut on an angle will give youless fines and more production but alsolarger material
• A great piece of advice from LoriRheinberger of QueenofParts.com, an Af-termarket Manufacturer: As a rule ofthumb, 70 percent of your material willbe 1/2 the dimension of your screen sizeor smaller. So, for example, with 4 inchscreens, 70 percent of your materialshould be 2” minus with the balance be-ing larger than 2”. Good rule to start fromwhen trying to size a product initially.
Any screen you buy, from the OEM orAftermarket Manufacturer, are all de-sign engineered before they are cut, un-less you and your torch are makingthem in your shop. On every engineereddrawing the actual open hole spaceshould be shown. That and only thatcan actually compare 2 screens andhow they compare to the actual productand production versus each other. Be-cause if a screen doesn’t have the sameopen area, they are not equal.
What does that mean? With 4”
screens, maybe 50 percent of the actualscreen is open space for material to fallthrough and the other 50 percent is thesteel framework making the 4” holes. Ifyou increase to 6”, that open space mayincrease to 60 percent, thus more pro-duction and larger product.
But what about using the same di-mension?
For example:• A round 1 1/2” hole measures an
area of 1.77 square inches• A square 1 1/2” hole measures an
area of 2.25 square inches• That is over 25 percent more open
space in the square hole• This means you will get larger pieces
in the square hole and more produc-tion.
• Multiply the 25 percent times everyhole in the screen and you see howmuch more open space is in the screenand how your production will increasebecause of it.
In addition, when the square hole pat-tern is layed out on the steel for cuttingcompared to a round hole, the patternlays out much more efficiently creatingmore holes, which means much moreproduction because of the extra spacecreated by the extra holes.
So the operator that says, “My squarehole gives me a better product” might becomparing his production to a roundhole screen.
But because the Round hole screen issmaller and then will have less holesper screen, it will make a finer productthan the square screen, which the oth-er operator may say, “My round holegives me a better product” because hehas smaller material.
Lastly, the hexagon, which seems tobe the latest greatest in the industry.Layed out for cutting on steel plate it isprobably the most efficient. But be care-ful, because a 2” hexagon does not havethe same dimension area as a 2” squarehole, but just by having more holes, itwill give you more open space and moreproduction. So the operator that says,“My hexagon hole gives me a betterproduct”, may be comparing his pro-duction to a square hole he used previ-ously. You never know what the com-parisons truly are?
In conclusion, what do we do?• Try different screens• Ask your supplier for engineered
drawings so you can compare open areaof the screens
• Ask your supplier what customersare buying now compared to last year orthe year before
• Thinner is better for production
quantity and fines reduction• Try to get screens that are angle cut
to increase production and reduce finesI have some photos posted at www.ask-
thegrinderguy.com for you to compareand review. Questions, comments? DaveWhitelaw, [email protected]
A diamond-shaped screen like this one will produce a different kind of material thanthe square-holed screen seen below it in this photo. Sometimes diamond-shapedscreens are used for material with higher moisture content.

PEACHTREE CITY,GA — SANY has openedthe world’s largest andmost advanced excava-tor factory near Shang-hai, China, that canproduce an excavatorevery five minutes.
The Lingang IndustrialPark has 10.7-million-square-feet of total space, with 5.9-million-square-feet of manufacturing
space. The facility cost$818.5 million to build. The factory uses a com-puterized productionmanagement system formaximum efficiency, managing the entireprocess, from raw steelplate to structural weld-ing, to components andfinal assembly. Excavatorstructures and compo-nents are transported au-
tomatically from under-ground tunnels to opti-mize production. The fac-tory will primarily pro-duce excavators in the 20to 30 ton size range.
The facility is uniquefor its 43,000-square-feetof gardens, reflectionpools, bamboo standsand marble patios thatflank the assembly linesinside the facility. The
gardens include palmtrees, flowers, grass andfountains.
“Our Lingang facility isthe most advanced, high-est capacity excavatorfactory in the world, andSANY produces more ex-cavators globally thanmost other equipmentbrands,” said Tim Frank, chairman of SANY Ameri-ca Inc. “North American
customers might rightlyask, ‘What’s in it for me?’It’s simple: robust and re-liable structures, cut andwelded by precise, fullyrobotic systems, assem-bled by a dedicated team.
“Our excavator team isexperienced at producingalmost as many excava-tors each year as are soldin the United States by allmanufacturers com-bined,” Frank said. “Addto that robust base thefact that we have U.S. as-sembly and componentsupply in our facility out-side of Atlanta. You get agreat machine at a greatprice. This is part ofSANY’s culture of excel-lence in manufacturingefficiency, and our planto become a global leaderin excavators.”
In addition to excava-tors produced in Lingangfor sale in China, SANYproduces base excavatorkits that are shipped toSANY America’s assemblyfacility in Peachtree City,GA. The kits are assem-bled there, adding the op-tions and features pre-ferred by North Americancustomers.

HOBBS, NM – Wasting time. Wasted energy. Wastefulspending. Regardless of industry, waste is one of themost detrimental and costly factors in a business. OneNew Mexico based construction company was able toturn what used to be tons of waste into big profit withthe help of a single crushing machine from IROCK.Ramirez & Sons, Inc. construction company pur-chased the IROCK RDS-15 crusher less than one yearago, and has already seen the machine take laggingproduction rates to impressive new heights. In addi-tion, the company has grown its customer base andprofits along the way.
Looking To GrowRamirez & Sons is a family owned company, formed
in 1982. The company is built on generations ofindustry experience dating back to the 1920s. Now ledby fourth generation contractor, Alonzo Ramirez Jr.,
Ramirez & Sons is the second largest paving andaggregate provider in southeastern New Mexico, employing more than 65 professionals at its corporateoffice in Hobbs, NM.
Ramirez & Sons began as a general earthwork andconstruction company, serving a client base of bothmunicipal and private contractors in Hobbs, Lovingtonand surrounding areas. Today, the company offersgeneral excavation, site prep, highway paving, andboth water and sewer utility work. In 2010, the com-pany enhanced its capabilities even further with theaddition of its first hot mix asphalt plant. In additionto contracting services, Ramirez & Sons also sellsmaterial for use in hot mix asphalt, building pads andas base layers for road building. This segment of thebusiness is led by Ken Smith, plant manager andcrushing/hot mix superintendent.
“Historically, the company has been primarily in-volved in asphalt recycling,” he said. According toSmith, Ramirez & Sons had previously produced fourdifferent size materials: 3/4-inch, 3/8-inch, fines andbase coarse. The company both sold the material andused it in its hot-mix plant for its own paving work. While asphalt recycling has certainly provided extraprofits, Smith felt there was more material he couldbe recycling, and that substantial money was beingleft on the table.
“We were wasting a lot of material,” said Smith, anewer member of the Ramirez & Sons team. Becausethe company was only recycling asphalt, it was miss-ing other saleable materials, particularly concrete.Recycled concrete and other aggregates are useful inmany applications, and being able to provide high-quality material would potentially bring newcustomers to Ramirez & Sons. Not only that, hefigured the company would be able to use the materialin its own operation, cutting time and costs associatedwith outside material purchases. While the benefits were clear, Ramirez & Sons simply
wasn’t in a position to make a move; the company’scrusher wasn’t able to process concrete and otheraggregates. Without the right crusher, the companylacked the versatility needed to enter into concrete andaggregate processing services.
Smith also noted that production rates weren’t ashigh as he felt they could be, coming in at a daily rateof roughly 120 TPH. The equipment should have beenproducing more, but there were many issues withbreakdowns and excessive downtime. Again, it wasn’tas simple as sheer output volume. End product qual-ity wasn’t up to par either, and a lot of potentiallyusable material was being left as waste. That allchanged when Smith met with Ramirez & Sons’ longtime equipment dealer, Warren CAT, to explore newmachines that could amp up production and allow thecompany to offer larger amounts of more saleablematerial.

Caterpillar dealerships in North America. The com-pany operates more than 16 locations in Oklahomaand west Texas, offering new, used and rental equip-ment. Throughout his years in the industry, Smithalways worked with Warren CAT for equipment needs,as well as parts and service. Warren CAT was alreadyRamirez & Sons’ exclusive dealer, so there was noquestion of who Smith would call when he set out tofind a new machine.
Brian Hutchinson, Ramirez & Sons’ contact at War-ren CAT, spoke with Smith to find out exactly what hewas looking for in a new crusher. First, Hutchinsongained insight into Smith’s pain points with his exist-ing crusher — primarily, lagging production and ex-cessive downtime. Next, the two discussed Smith’sgoals and expectations of the new machine — greateroutput, more processing capabilities and high uptime. After learning both, Hutchinson felt he had the solu-tion — an IROCK crusher. He knew of one that wasavailable at one of Warren’s sister locations in Odessa,Texas. The particular unit, IROCK’s RDS-15, was afour bar impactor, three-stage mobile crusher thatcould process a variety of materials, includingconcrete and other aggregates, at impressive tonnagerates that could double Smith’s hourly output. Itsounded like a great fit for Ramirez & Sons, soHutchinson put Smith in touch with Bill Reiner atWarren CAT’s Odessa location. Smith made the tripsouth to look at the machine. About 175 miles and afew days later, Smith said, “It was sitting in our yard.”
Though Smith was confident the RDS-15 was thesolution to the company’s low production rates,Ramirez & Sons decided first to lease the machine andsee how it would stand up to the company’s high stan-dards and demanding production schedule. In justtwo months, the company purchased the machine, cementing its place as the primary crusher in thecompany’s fleet.
Smith has been operating the RDS-15 for less thana year, but already has seen production rates soarfrom about 120 TPH to approximately 300 TPH. Whilethat’s more than double, and impressive, the impactof the new unit really adds up in the bigger picture.Based on a typical 12 hour day and an average six dayweek, tonnage output has gone from 8,640 tons perweek to 21,600. In addition to sheer output quantity, the company also has been able to diversify its salesofferings from four products to nearly 15, includingvarious sizes of recycled concrete, aggregates andasphalt.
“The machine has its own double deck screen,”Smith explained. “I'm able to easily change out thebottom screen, which allows us to produce differentsizes we hadn’t been able to with other machines.”
Additionally, the configuration options enable Ramirez& Sons to produce three different materials at once. The impact aprons are easy to adjust for precisesizing, as well. This offers Smith the versatility andefficiency of producing multiple products at once, while ensuring they’re accurately sized for best salepotential.
As Smith expected, Ramirez & Sons’ newfound di-versity has opened up the company to a new customerbase and more opportunity. Most notable is the oilboom happening in Hobbs and nearby cities. Severaloil companies use Ramirez & Sons’ 3/4-inch minusmaterial, primarily for parking lots and temporaryroads.“That has been one of the biggest areas of growth for
us,” Smith said. “The oil boom here is incredible.”While increased production rates and profits are
both great benefits, Smith says the primary one is“zero waste.” “I can honestly say we’re no longer wast-ing any material,” Smith said. “It’s remarkable.”Ramirez & Sons now offers a variety of material sizes,
from 3/8-inch minus to 5/8-inch minus to 1-inchminus. The products are used in a variety of applica-
tions, including hot mix, road base, subbase, andbuilding pads. The company also produces specialtysize material for specific applications. For example, aseptic system’s base lines require a larger rock, from1 to 3-inches in size. Smith says with just a simpleadjustment his RDS-15 can produce it quickly andprecisely.
Often overshadowed by the high production ratesand lack of material waste is the simple reliability ofthe crusher. It’s not that Smith has ignored the highuptime; he certainly recognizes it. Rather, he hasn’treally had to pay attention.
“It seems like you can always remember the timesyour equipment has failed on you,” he said. “On theflip side, when a machine runs smoothly and doesn’trequire attention, it’s easy for it to go unnoticed. Iron-ically, it’s the machines that do their job and run likethey’re supposed to that almost seem like they’reforgotten. But that’s really when you should be takingnotice, and I credit the RDS-15 for its reliability.”
Smith’s philosophy is, as long as it’s running, he’shappy. And that’s important to a company thatoperates up to 12 hours a day, six days a week.
In addition to worry free operation, the machinerequires little attention. Maintenance requirementshave been minimal. One unique feature that con-tributes to this is IROCK’s innovative ROCK BOX, analternative to discharge chutes found on similar units. The ROCK BOX uses a shelf system with abrasionresistant wear bars that allow crushed material tobuild up and act as a wear liner, cutting down oncostly wear liner replacement.Smith also points out the minimal wear he has seen
on the machine. Compared to crushers he has usedin the past, IROCK’s machine has impressed him interms of longevity of wear parts. Blow bars are a primeexample. Compared with other crushers that needednew bars within four weeks he’s only had to rotatethe bars once in more than 1,400 hours of operationwith the RDS-15.
“I haven’t yet been able to accurately quantify ourmaintenance and downtime savings from the RDS-15,but I can tell you both have gone down sharply whileproduction has more than doubled,” Smith said. TheRDS-15 has been a welcome addition to the Ramirez& Sons fleet. In fact, Smith is already leasing a secondIROCK crusher, the RDS-20. It’s similar, but it offersmore screening area and a larger vibrating feeder.

HOUSTON, TEXAS — Houston-based Cherry, specialists in industri-al demolition, dismantling, asset re-covery and recycling, has won a 2012APEX (Award for Project Excellence)Award from the Houston chapter ofAssociated General Contractors(AGC) in AGC’s bi-annual award cer-emony held recently.
AGC honored Cherry for its safe andefficient deconstruction of 711 Polk, a28-story former hotel in downtownHouston in 2011. Cherry used a muchslower, floor-by-floor deconstructionmethod in order to remove the high-rise without negatively impacting animmediately adjacent 35-story officebuilding (Total Plaza), an across-the-street Hotel (Hyatt Regency) and carsand pedestrians on the streets below.
Project planning began in mid-No-vember 2010, work commenced in ear-ly January 2011 and the job was com-pleted in September 2011-on budgetand well within the time frame estab-lished by its owner, Brookfield, andHouston city officials.
“We’re most pleased that AGC is rec-ognizing our work with one of the in-dustry’s most prestigious awards,”
said Mike Dokell, manager of Cherry’sCommercial, Interior and ResidentialDemolition Division. “The 711 Polkproject presented a complex challenge. We could not use traditional decon-struction methods to take it down be-cause it was located right next to a 35-story office building and across thestreet from the Hyatt Regency hotel. And, we needed to minimize our im-pact to pedestrians and cars in thestreets below.
“Even though it took longer, we re-moved the building one floor at a timein order to carefully manage debris, dust and noise levels. We proved thatour 45 workers could function effec-tively as a team and successfully coor-dinate our activities with our customerand a large number of city officials.”
Cherry recycled nearly 99 percent ofthe building’s deconstruction debris, which included approximately 3,000tons of carbon steel, 30,000 tons ofconcrete, 25 tons of aluminum andfour tons of copper.
About CherryCherry, based in Houston, Texas,
was founded in 1952 and has grown tomeet and exceed the changing de-
mands of customers, communities andgoverning bodies. The company’s com-plete cycle of capabilities includes: safe-ty-first demolition contracting for an in-dustrial site, office building, or home;cost-effective removal of road and high-
way materials; superior resources forstabilized materials; and professionalrecycling of demolition and other indus-trial waste. For more information, seewww.cherrycompanies.com.
