Water of Life by David Haas
Refrain:
Water of Life, Jesus our Light;Journey from Death to New Life.
Water of Life, Jesus our Light;Journey from Death to New Life.
I remind you of the great mystery and wonder that as life itself began in the sea, so each of us begins life in a miniature ocean within [our] mother’s womb.
- Rachel Carson
Our bodies affirm the presence of water in our
beginning and in the Great Beginning of life on this
planet. We are 77 % water at birth with our skin
delineating the boundaries of our internal waters. This is a fact of our existence:
We are a body of water.
Moment of Reflection:
How aware am I of how intimate and inextricable is my connection to
and dependence on water?
“Whoever drinks the water that I give will never thirst.” - Jn. 4: 14
Moment of Reflection:
What meaning does water have in your life?
How does this shape your thinking and acting with respect to water?
What recommendations do you have for the Province’s work around water?

On a spiritual level, we acknowledge, with Rachel Carson, “ that all life began in the sea that the water coursing through our physical being is connected to the rivers, streams, lakes, and oceans: we are kith and kin.”
When they are polluted and harmed by our careless acts, we suffer with them.
When we work to protect and save the waterways, we are healing ourselves.
