8. Read Proverbs 1:20-33. Wisdom is desribed here as a woman. The first nine chapters of Proverbs form a

unit in which the emphasis is on wisdom and folly, personified as two women. (The Hebrew word for

wisdom is in the feminine gender.) In chapters 1,8 and 9 Wisdom calls to men and women to follow her and

enjoy salvation, wealth and life. In chapters 5,6, and 7, Folly calls to the same people and offers them

immediate satisfaction, but doesnt warn them of tragic consequences of rejecting Wisdom: condemnation,

poverty and death. (Warren W. Wiersbe, Be Skillful)

Pr 13:1* A wise son heeds his fathers instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.

knowledge.

knowledge.

Pr 21:24* The proud and arrogant man--"Mocker" is his name; he behaves with overweening pride.

Pr 22:10* Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended.

Pr 24:9* The schemes of folly are sin, and men detest a mocker.
