serves in an advisory capacity to state
and local agencies. We work with the
City of New York in certifying Women
Business Enterprises. WBC encourages
corporations and the building
trades to appoint women to serve as
board members in their respective
organizations. We work with the
industry on best practices. We have met
with many elected officials in City Hall,
Albany and Washington D.C. to share
our ideas. Our recommendations have
been welcomed. WBC members serve
as mentors to young women in our
industry. We understand that our future
is in the hands of those who will soon
join us and strengthen the foundation
that we are building.
We have exciting plans for growing
women’s roles in the expansive building
industry and increasing both business
and professional opportunities at all
levels. Let your voice be heard.

Throughout our great nation, there
are thousands of women who have
businesses in the building industry. Here
in New York, women in the building
industry generate millions of dollars
that contribute to the economic growth
of the state and city.
Our goal is to make it possible for
many more women to achieve their
professional and personal objectives.
WBC is determined to eliminate
unnecessary barriers that have deterred
women and minorities from being
fully active participants in New York’s
construction industry.

WBC’S MISSION WBC empowers women and promotes diversity throughout the construction industry.
Women Builders Council, Inc. (WBC) was founded by several women business owners who recognized the challenges of doing business in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Established in 2004, today it has grown to be one of the leading voices for women business owners and women professionals in construction. Its Board includes many of the leading women in construction. Since WBC’s inception, WBC membership has grown in both reputation and numbers.
WBC is the leading association representing women in the construction industry. WBC is comprised of the construction industry’s top women executives dedicated to the continued growth and expansion of the organization’s reputation and membership.
“Our organization has grown from its founding seven women business owners to an institution that represents many of New York’s leading construction firms,” says Deborah Bradley, President of WBC.
WBC leads women in construction on several important fronts: legislative advocacy, new business development and professional development with a special focus on leadership. WBC provides a dynamic forum that advances industry knowledge, addresses the barriers that prevent women from growing and facilitates solutions for policy makers and industry leaders.
