This week we are moving on to learn all about leaflets (non-fiction). Leaflets give you lots of information about a place. You often find these in places to visit where you want to learn lots of new things or need to
know some information.
Non-fiction – means writing that contains facts and information. It’s not made up like a story. All the writing is true!
Here are some examples of leaflets:
Last year I visited the ZSL London Zoo and I think some of you also visited
the zoo on a school trip. If you haven’t visited the zoo, don’t worry because I have written a leaflet all about it on the next page.
Location ZSL London Zoo is located Regents Park in London. You can take the Jubilee line from Bermondsey station to Baker Street and it only takes around 13 minutes. It is then a 20 minute walk to the Zoo. Attractions You should go to ZSL London Zoo if you like animals, learning and lots of fun. There are lots of interesting animals for you discover and learn about. You can visit the tigers, lions, gorillas and penguins and so many more animals. There are also special attractions where you can meet the animals up close.
Entry An adult tickets costs £31.59 and a child tickets costs £22.28. The London Zoo opens at 10 o’clock in the morning and closes at 6 o’clock in the evening every day of the year except Christmas day. Fun Fact London Zoo opened on the 27th April 1828. Today, London Zoo is 192 years old! When the zoo first opened it was only for scientists to study animals but 20 years later it opened to everybody.
Come and visit the London Zoo, the animals are waiting to see you.

Today you are going to plan your ideas for your own leaflet about ZSL London Zoo. Ask an adult if you can use a device to visit the ZSL London Zoo website. Remember to use the Internet safely. If you do not have access to the Internet, don’t worry! You can use your imagination to come up with exciting ideas. Think of stories you know that have animals in and use these to help you write facts about animals that you can use in your leaflet.
