This season, the sophomore sits at ninth in the nation and third in the WCHA with a .934 save percentage. He holds the seventh-best GAA in the conference at 2.31.

• Brandon Carlson leads the country with 58 blocks in the 2014-15 campaign, after getting in front of eight shots over the weekend. While anchoring the Chargers defensive core, the sophomore scored his fourth goal of the season on a redirect in Saturday’s 2-1 win. This season, Carlson is third on the defense with seven points (4g-3a).

• UAH currently has four players in double-digit points so far this season led by McHugh’s 15 offensive tallies. • Brandon Parker posted two assists over the weekend to give him nine helpers overall on the season, which is tops on the UAH roster. The freshman’s nine assists rank tied for second amongst first-year players. Parker has also contributed three blocks this weekend, giving him 28 overall in 2014-15.

• Sophomore Cody Marooney supplied both game-winning goals in the series sweep of Alaska Anchorage this past weekend. Marooney posted his first two-point series of the season with the two goals to give him six points (3g-3a) in the 2014-15 season. Marooney did not see the penalty box throughout the series sweep.

• The Chargers head out on the road for the second series of the 2015 calendar year, as UAH heads north to Bemidji, Minnesota to take on conference rival Bemidji State in a weekend series. The Blue and White owns a 29-41-4 all-time series record against the Beavers. The Chargers won one of four matchups in the 2013-14 campaign, notching the second victory of the season in a 2-1 win in Bemidji that included goals from Vanderlugt and Prince.

SeawolvesUniversity of Alaska Anchorage• Alaska Anchorage returns to the Sullivan Arena Jan. 8-9 for a

Thursday-Friday WCHA series against the Ferris State Bulldogs.• The teams met Nov. 13-14, 2014 in Big Rapids, Mich., with the

Bulldogs sweeping, 10-2, 4-0.• This marks the ninth and 10th all-time meeting between the

teams. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series vs. UAA at 6-1-1 and enter Thursday’s game with a six-game winning streak against the Seawolves. UAA’s only win against FSU came Dec. 19, 1986 in the Nissan Jeep Classic at Sullivan Arena with a score of 6-2.

• The Seawolves started the 2015 season with a pair of losses to the Alabama Huntsville Chargers, 3-2, 2-1 on Jan. 2-3. On Friday, UAA was down 3-0 before closing the gap to 3-2 in the second period, but couldn’t find the equalizer in the final frame. On Saturday, the Seawolves led 1-0 after the first 20 minutes, but allowed two strikes in the second period.

• Over the weekend, the Seawolves went 1-for-9 on the power play against UAH, dropping to 9-of-71 overall (12.7%).

• The Seawolves only allowed one power-play goal by the Chargers and are now 65-for-81 (80.2%) on the penalty kill.

• Following the weekend, the senior class is leading the Seawolves this season with 29 points and five power-play goals.

• The seniors and freshmen are tied with 13 goals each. The sophomore class leads with 21 helpers, while the freshman class has three game-winning strikes.

• Against the Chargers, the Seawolves received goals from senior F Scott Allen – on the power play – and freshmen forwards Tad Kozun and Austin Azurdia.

• Allen leads all current UAA skaters with 36 career goals, good for a tie at No. 33 on the UAA all-time list with NHLer Jeff Batters (1989-92) and Mike Bjork (1981-84). He trails junior F Blake Tatchell by one point with 68 career points.

• Kozun picked up his second career multi-point game on Jan. 2 with a goal and an assist.

• Collecting his team-high 10th helper of the season was sophomore D Chase Van Allen. After 18 games, Van Allen already has 11 points, bypassing his rookie season (8).

• Leading UAA with 12 points on the season is Tatchell. Tatchell’s 50 career assists ranks him No. 37 on the all-time UAA list, while his 69 career points is tied for No. 50

• After posting a Div. I-high four goals on Dec. 6, senior F Brett Cameron leads UAA with five goals on the season.

• Dressing between the pipes on Jan. 2 was freshman G Olivier Mantha. Mantha (4-6-3), who collected his first collegiate shutout on Nov. 22 vs. Northern Michigan, owns a 2.49 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage.

• Mantha is on track to beat the all-time UAA single-season save percentage record of .921, set in 2003-04 by Chris King. Mantha would need to drop his goals-against average to 2.30 to dethrone NHLer Gregg Naumenko (1998-99).

the Bulldogs. Josh Erickson and Peter Krieger both scored.• On Saturday, Alaska dominated from the beginning earning a 6-0

win and back-to-back WCHA sweeps. Marcus Basara, Garrick Perry, Tayler Munson, Nolan Kaiser, Erickson and Zach Frye were all on the scoresheet.

• Alaska travels to Bowling Green this weekend for the second meeting of the season between the teams, with the Falcons sweeping the Nanooks back in early November. Bowling Green took both games, in Fairbanks, by a score of 3-2. Tyler Morley scored twice in game two after his brother, Brandon, and Colton Parayko scored on Friday.

• After being swept earlier this season, Alaska holds a slim 26-25-6 all-time series lead over the Falcons, with this weekend representing the 58th and 59th times the two programs will meet. Nothing separates the two sides in Bowling Green, as both teams are 12-12-3 against each other at BGSU Ice Arena. Recently, however, Alaska is 0-5-2 against BGSU.

• Alaska will not back down from Bowling Green’s #11 national ranking. So far this season, the Nanooks have earned three wins over ranked opponents, as they defeated #2 Minnesota State, #19 Northern Michigan and #10 Wisconsin.

• Alaska takes a four-game winning streak on the road this weekend, looking to match a season high five game winning streak it had to start the season. Last campaign, the Nanooks won seven games in a row from Jan. 31-March 7.

• Sophomore goaltender Davis Jones recorded his fourth shutout of the season in Alaska’s 6-0 win on Saturday against Ferris State, a mark that has him tied for the NCAA lead. Jones is fourth in the WCHA in winning percentage after he won his ninth game this year and is sixth in goals against average (2.31).

• With his performance last weekend, Jones was named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week. He stopped 47 of 48 shots, including all 26 he faced on Saturday.

• Paryako is tied for the league lead with four power play goals and is second amongst scoring defensemen with 15 points (four goals and 11 assists already this season). Alaska has won every game that Parayko has scored in (4-0-0).

• The Nanooks’ top line of T. Morley, Basara and Perry have recorded 48 points (18 goals and 30 assists), accounting for 30% of the team’s offense. T. Morley is second in the WCHA in points (20) and third in assists (14), while Basara is third in the league with nine goals.

• Half of Alaska’s wins (six) have come after recovering from losing positions, including two on the current winning streak and three of its last five victories. The comeback wins include Ferris State, Alabama Huntsville, Minnesota State, Air Force, Penn State and Maine.

BeaversBemidji State University• Bemidji State opens 2015 with a home series vs. long-time rival

Alabama Huntsville Jan. 9-10. The Beavers posted a 5-10-3 overall record in the 2014 potion of the schedule and bring a 3-6-3 WCHA record into the league series.

• The Bemidji State/Alabama Huntsville rivalry got its start March 11, 1994. The Beavers hold a 41-29-4 lead in the all-time series, including a dominant 31-4-3 mark versus the Chargers since Mar. 3, 2006. The Beavers enter this weekend’s two-game set unbeaten by UAH in 18 of the last 20 meetings (17-2-1).

• In addition to being charter members of College Hockey America, these teams have a long-standing, bitter rivalry dating back to the NCAA Division II days. The Chargers and Beavers met in the national tournament on four occasions, with BSU defeating UAH for NCAA Division II titles in 1994 and at John S. Glas Fieldhouse in 1997.

• BSU holds a 23-10-1 all-time record when hosting the Chargers.• In Bemidji State’s last action, the Beavers earned three points in a

WCHA series with Northern Michigan to extend its unbeaten streak to five games (2-0-3).

• The last time BSU was unbeaten in five straight games was Dec. 10-31, 2011 (5-0-0). BSU’s last unbeaten streak of at least six games was an eight-game stretch to open the 2009-10 season (7-0-1) stretching from Oct. 9-Nov. 7, 2009.

• The Beavers are 4-4-1 at Sanford Center this season, while they are 3-2-1 in WCHA home games.

• The Beavers have averaged 2.89 goals per game at home, while allowing 2.44--that’s nearly 1.5 goals surrendered per game less than on the road (3.89).

• BSU is still winless this season when scoring three or fewer goals in a game (0-10-2). Conversely, when scoring four or more, BSU is 5-0-1.

• After waiting six games to record his first collegiate point, Leo Fitzgerald has scored in two of BSU’s last three games and has four points (1g-3a) in BSU’s last four games.

• Gerry Fitzgerald leads all BSU players with eight points since Nov. 28.

• BSU is 5-for-13 (.385) on the power play in its last three contests. The BSU power play is now 12-of-74 (.162), while it is 8-of-50 (.160) in WCHA play.

• BSU has stymied 59-of-74 opponent power-play opportunities and is at .797 on the season, with a 38-for-47 (.809) mark in WCHA play.

• The BSU penalty-kill unit has now snuffed out 13 of its opponents’ last 14 power-play chances and is .929 on the penalty kill since Dec. 5.

• Nate Arentz has had plenty of scoring success at Sanford Center, netting 10 points (6g-4a) at home this season to lead BSU.

• Sam Windle is ninth in the nation, with 42 blocks this season.• In four games played versus UAH during his career, goaltender

Andrew Walsh is 4-0-0 with three shutouts. Versus the Chargers he has allowed just one goal and has 82 saves in 239:44 between the pipes for a 0.25 goals against average and a .988 save percentage.
