Go onto the App Store, find Updat-ed and download. Parents should be aware that we also use the App as part of our DISPLAN or emergency communication system with parents. In the event of a whole school emergency or lock down the app is a fast way of keeping all 220 school families informed with live information. It is simply impractical in the event of a whole school emergency to be phoning every single family. Parents should download the app today. IMPORTANT CHANGES TO EXTEND CARE Legislative changes now do not allow children to be taken into Extend Before School Care or After School Care if they are not previously enrolled. However there is some good news associated with the changes that Extend have had to make: 1. Children only need to be enrolled once in their whole primary schooling to be part of the program, and not each year. That means that once your child is enrolled in Extend they are covered for the extent of their Primary Schooling 2. There is no registration cost to enrol your child in Extend. Simply register your child at https://extend.com.au/parent-portal This process takes about 5 minutes to complete. Parents will never know when they will one day need Extend. Being stuck in traffic, no trams coming, doctors appointment running late are all valid reasons why parents do not arrive at school on time. As such any child not registered with Extend, and dropped off before 8.40am or not picked up by 3.40pm will be taken to Mr. Cachia's office for child minding. This is not as fun as the Extend program! Later in the year we are going to try to enrol all Foundation 2019 families as part of their transition and admission to school. Please take the time today to register with Extend. It is free, it is easy, it is part of a parent's responsibility to ensure your child is looked after before 8.40 am and 3.40 pm. WORKING BEE #1 2018 We have decided to move the date of the first Working Bee of 2018 to the 28 th April 2018 from 9am to 12 noon. Over the past month we have had many of the walls around the school repainted and the traditional "Spray and Wipe" Clean Team would have little to do if we were to go ahead with the Working Bee this term. So for all A-K families please mark 28 th April from 9am to 12 noon in your diaries. For those families who attend either working bee held through the year, you will be refunded $100 back on your School Building Levy. The second Working Bee of the year for L-Z families is traditionally held in Term 4 PRINCIPAL FORUM - TERM 1 When: Wednesday 28 th March @ 9.05am Venue: Staffroom In the absence of a School Advisory Board, Our Lady Help Of Christians School runs a 'Principal Forum' each term to generate feedback, new ideas and initiatives from the Parent Community. The first Principal Forum will be held on Wednesday 28 th March at 9.05am and we look forward to many parents attending. The meeting is generally an informal meeting over a v cuppa' where anything and everything can be discussed. The only rule for the forum is that a teacher or child cannot be denigrated. We will report back on this meeting in the first newsletter next term. YEAR 6 GRADUATION 2018 Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to be part of the 2018 Year 6 Graduation Committee. Our launch meeting will be held on Thursday 22 nd March at 3.40pm in the staffroom. If you are still interested please email [email protected] The Graduation Committee will be asked to reflect on the past and then to plan for this year's group of Year 6 children. ADVANCED NOTICE - FOUNDATION 2019 For those families who already have children enrolled at our school, and who have younger siblings who will turn 5 by April 30 th 2019, now is your chance to get in ahead of the crowd and enrol your child. Officially, our 2019 Foundation enrolment opens on the first day of Term 2. However some 29 Foundation families are already enrolled for next year as they are very keen to secure enrolment at our school. PARENTS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Another big 'turn up' at this month's Parents Association Meeting. I am pleased to announce the Parents Association Executive for 2018/19. Michelle Suche - President Debra O'Brien - Vice President Michael Carrick - Secretary Courtenay Moxon - Treasurer I look forward to working with the Parents Association Executive over the next year and supporting the great work that they do. The art activities have included Paper Plate Pandas, Ninja Rolls and Autumn Leaf Art. These activities stand as one of the main

Donations for the prize draw are greatly appreciated and we ask that each family donate an Easter egg of any shape, size or variety for the raffle! These can be handed into the office.

Each family has also received a book of raffle tickets. Please ensure the details are filled in on tickets that you sell so we are able to contact the prize winners and arrange collection of their prize.

Raffle ticket books and money need to be returned to school by Thursday, 29 March in an envelope clearly marked with your family name and total $ enclosed.

We also require some volunteers to help assemble the hampers on the morning of Thursday, 29 March.

Please email [email protected] or contact Michelle Suche on 0412 900 517 if you are able to assist.

Thank you!
