For MOLLY MAID Franchise Owners, Heather Lamontagne, Betty Patrick and Diane Jorgenson, it all began with a dream of starting their own business. Heather and her husband, Brian, had always wanted to run a business together. Betty had a young child and wanted a business she could run out of her home. Diane loved the idea of being her own boss. After careful consideration of what would work best with their lifestyles and business objectives, it was decided that owning a MOLLY MAID Franchise would give them the best opportunity to achieve their goals. In 1984 there were no existing MOLLY MAID Franchises in Winnipeg so Heather set out to build her Franchise from the ground up in the South West Winnipeg area. Three years later Betty bought her Franchise in the North West part of Winnipeg and eight years after that Diane had purchased the South East portion of Winnipeg. Starting a Franchise from ‘scratch’ meant no customers and no staff, so initially they sent out flyers and contacted everyone they knew. It didn’t take long before their maid uniforms were exchanged for business suits. Operating Franchises within the same province, Heather, Betty and Diane knew it would be beneficial to work together. What they have created is a beautiful synergy which has lead them to win awards honouring their innovative advertising initiatives and their commitment to quality, service and value. What sets Heather, Betty and Diane apart from their competition, other than their relentless hard work and attention to detail, is their overall attitude. A positive attitude filters throughout each level of management right through to the customer. By utilizing the strength of leadership from the MOLLY MAID Support Office, they are able to pass on a positive attitude to their staff, who in turn provide the excellent MOLLY MAID service that is so necessary to have kept them in business for so many years. Heather, Betty and Diane agree on the importance of treating staff with respect and encouraging a positive outlook. They also feel one of the biggest advantages you can give yourself as a new woman entrepreneur is to build a strong connection with other women business owners in your city. Research local organizations dedicated to uniting business women, such as Women Business Owners of Manitoba (www.wbom.ca). Networking gives you the opportunity to present your questions to someone who has already faced your concern and is willing to offer helpful advice. Heather, Betty and Diane are truly inspiring women entrepreneurs. They have grown their businesses by sending you trained, professional and dedicated staff. “We appreciate your support Winnipeg and will continue to do what we enjoy and that is serving you, our most valued clients”.
