Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus Was a KidJoin us the week of June 22 - 25 to experience a day at Hometown nazareth, as

we focus on Jesus as a child. Each day is filled with stations where kids and adults are transported to Jesus’ hometown! Kids meet Mary and see firsthand God’s Word at work in a person’s life. God’s Word comes alive through engaging inter-action with Bible history! We will have VBS T-shirts for the children! A closing ceremony will take place on Thursday evening, June 25. Registration is now open and runs through June 5. Register on the church website, www.eastminsterpres.

Needed: Letter LadiesDo you enjoy writing notes and letters? And mailing them the old-fashioned

way? Then the Prison Ministry needs you to join a group of Eastminster members already involved. This correspondence project within the Evangelism and Mem-bership ministry seeks to match Christian letter writers with incarcerated women in U.S. prisons who are screened first for eligibility and interest. Requirements are penning a note every other week, and desiring to share in writing about the love and hope of Christ with these women in jail. Questions? E-mail Annie Scott ([email protected]). Hebrews 13:3 says, “Remember those in prison as if you were

together with them . . .

Call for All Library Books! Inventory-Check Scheduled for Week of May 18

If you have checked out any books or other resources from our church library, please return them by Monday, May 18. That week, we will be performing an inventory-check of all Library resources and need an accurate account of books/DVDs that are in, missing or lost. Inventory should take one week to complete, so you may check out books and other resources again during the week of Memorial Day. Many thanks for your cooperation!

Transitions quoteI met a gentleman there named David. He said he has had some drug abuse

problems that led him to do some things that landed him in prison. He had a job in Irmo, but lost it because his car was towed and he had no way to get to work. I asked David, “How can I pray for you?” His response was not for him or his em-ployment, but asked that I please pray for his three children, and that he can repair his relationship with them. They live in Simpsonville, and he has not been able to see them for over two years. Please pray for his family.

One Lady, Many Hats - May 26Join PEP@EPC Tuesday, May 26, for lunch 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m.

in Thompson Hall, and enjoy an unusual performance by Co-lumbia’s own Chrystal Danker. Meet an array of characters she brings to the stage, through a clever “changing of hats”! $6 per person; pay at the door; call the receptionist (256-1654) for reser-vations. Bring a friend! This luncheon program is presented by People Enjoying People, an adult ministry for fun, fellowship and education.

Small Groups: We Want Your Input! What was the greatest blessing you experienced through your Small Group?

10:00 A.M. - Jubilee service10:15 A.M. - sAnctuArY 9:00 A.M. - sundAY school(8:45 Coffee & Fellowship Gathering)

A combined Adult sunday school class will meet in the Adult reception hall. This class begins May 24, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Dr. Durrett will take us on a journey through “The Life and Letters of Paul: Gospel People and

Places.” Some of the places we’ll visit are Damascus, Tarsus, Cyprus, Galatia, Athens, Corinth, Ephesus and Rome. We’ll meet Stephen, Ananias, Barn-abas, Mark, Priscilla & Aquila and others. Mark will be using information from two books, In the Steps of St. Paul by Peter Walker and The Apostle by John Pollock. At this time there is no reading schedule, but if you would like a book, please e-mail Julie McDaniel ([email protected]) or call her (256-1654 ext. 143).

Books for 4’sWe have a magnificent small group, and our mission/project is reading and

distributing books to the four year old child development classes in Richland one. In order to be admitted to these classes, the majority of the children are considered “at risk.” We intend to read to the class and then give a book to each child. Many of these children have no books at home. With so many children in need, we hoped to make it a project for the congregation to share.

We will have boxes placed in the church for collecting “gently used” books ap-propriate for a four-year-old and would love for each of you to look through the books in your home and share one or two with these children. Thank you! Liz Agee

and Becky Smythe

Diaper Drive for Family ShelterDid you know that Columbia has only one agency that provides emergency shel-

ter services to homeless children and their families? Family Shelter on Two Notch Road provides shelter for up to 120 days for 15 families at a time. Currently, they have a critical need for diapers of all sizes, particularly sizes 4 and 5. Between now and May 31, bring diapers to boxes in Thompson Hall, the CLC and the church’s main reception area.
