LITURGY CORNERThis weekend we celebrate the Baptism of theLord. As each New Year approaches, most of usparticipate in the annual tradition of selfappraisal. What have I done with my life duringthe past year? How can I make it better? The

month of January invites us to celebrate with many New Yearresolutions. It’s the second week of January. Have you formedyours? Our life as a member of God’s holy family begins withthe celebration of the sacrament of Baptism. We are Catholic. Most of us were baptized as infants and raised in the faith byour parents. Year by year, as we grew, so also did our faith, nurtured by our family and friends who share our beliefs. Faithis a gift from God, meant to be a part of our lives forever. When we celebrate Christmas each year, we are reminded ofthe greatest gift that God has given to us-His son, Jesus. TheSeason of Christmas moves us from the end of one year to thestart of another. It ends with the birth of a newborn babe andbegins with the celebrations of life in the baptism of our Lord, alife we share with each other. New life and faith grow together. Day by day we move through the year, surrounded by the giftof God’s life. We need to share our gift of faith. To receive agift, to give a gift, to be a gift, this is what God asks of us. Have a blessed week! Lisa

FAITH AT HOME For almost all of us, the Sacrament of Baptism isnot one that we remember at all, unless you werepart of the RCIA program. I know I only have

maybe a couple of pictures from my baptism. In the last 20years, people have brought video cameras and now we havephones that perform the safe function. As we celebrate thisfeast day, why not bring out the pictures/videos and share withyour child about that very special day YOU chose to bringhim/her to the Church to be baptized into our faith. You caneven mark that day in your calendar and each year bring outthe candle they received at their baptism, light it and say aspecial prayer together. This would be especially special forthose young children and teens who are preparing to receivethe next sacraments in their faith journey - Reconciliation,Eucharist and Confirmation. Enjoy your week! Lisa
