• One 1 ½ inch binder • Small package of plastic sheet protectors (at least 25)

• 2 durable folders with prongs (heavy duty/plastic work best)

• Pencil pouch (please, no pencil boxes)

• Scissors• 1 small package of cap erasers• 2 packages of Post-it notes• Clorox wipes or baby wipes

(optional)

• Hand sanitizer (optional)

Prior to the first day of school please… -Label pencil pouch and headphone bag with student’s first and last name.

-Put highlighters and pencils in pencil pouch.

• 2 boxes of tissues • Dry erase markers • Headphones (labeled and in a Ziploc bag)

• 2 boxes of #2 pencils (no mechanical)

Welcome to the Fifth Grade Explorer Team!

Fifth grade will be an exciting year as you enter your new classroom at the Horseheads Intermediate School. Organization, responsibility, and independence are the keys to making this year a successful one. Development of these areas over the summer will be helpful, as you will be accountable for your own work and materials in the fall.

These are the items already listed on the 5th Grade General Supply List sent home in

the 4th grade report cards: 1 box of tissues, 2 boxes of #2 pencils, 1 pkg of blue or black pens (no other colors please), 1 Box of Dry Erase Markers, Highlighter, and earbuds

or headphones (labeled and in a zip bag), pencil bag or pouch (no boxes please).

Additional Team Supplies Needed: 1 pack of loose leaf paper – wide ruled,

1 set of colored pencils, 1 green plastic pocket folder (this must be plastic due to the amount of use)

3 durable 3 hole punched folders, 2 folders with 3-clasps for paper (Math and Social Studies)

One ½” binder for Science One 1” binder for ELA

One 1 subject spiral notebook Post-it notes *

backpack Bring a healthy snack each day!

We would appreciate any donations of the following for classroom use: Pencils, pens, tissues, Band-Aids, hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, and cleaning wipes

Welcome to the Go-Getters Team 5th grade General Supply List (sent home in 4th grade report card folder):

1 pack loose leaf paper 2 boxes of tissues 2 boxes of #2 pencils Cap erasers (1-2 boxes) 1 box of dry erase markers Highlighter Headphones or ear buds (in a gallon sized bag and labeled with your child’s name please) A ‘Just Right Chapter book” (see separate letter for more information)

THE GROUND BREAKERS TEAM SUPPLY LIST

These items will be required for our team: (Please be sure to bring these and keep stocked all year, as the school will not be supplying them!) • 1 or more packs of loose leaf paper – (A constant supply all year!)

• MANY pencils with erasers! – (A constant supply all year!)

• colored pencils, markers, or crayons

• glue (stick or bottle)

• small scissors (safety scissors are recommended)

• 1 or 2 boxes of tissues to share with class

• headphones, or ear buds, etc. (Jack standard headphone to MP3 or cd player type.)

• Dry-Erase markers (eraser optional – can use old sock!) – (A constant supply all year!)

• 4 folders (with 3 holes punched in them to fit in binder)

• 1 or 2 packs of regular size Post It Notes (any color)

• optional: basic flash drive, hand held pencil sharpener

• extra supplies to share with the team: We are always in need of extra Dry Erase Markers,

pencils, and green plastic tablecloths (for iPad projects) from the Dollar Store.

• Social Studies projects: Students will need 2 shoeboxes at different times this year. Please

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

We hope you all are having an outstanding summer! We are Mrs. Smith and Ms.

Malone, the sixth grade Pathfinders team teachers. We are excited to have you join our

team this year and look forward to working with you to do our best to provide learning

opportunities that will allow each child to work toward reaching his or her potential.

We are eager to learn more about each child so we can maximize our efforts as a

collaborative team to best meet his or her educational needs. Parents and teachers

spend a great deal of time trying to teach children how to be successful. Please know

that we are always open to suggestions that you think will best support your child.

The first day of school will be on Wednesday, September 4th. Staff will be

available near the entrances to help direct students to our classrooms. Our Intermediate

School Open House will be on Tuesday, September 10th. We hope to see you there.

We are looking forward to a fantastic school year. Let’s work together to ensure

each student is able to have the best sixth grade year possible. Please feel free to

After obtaining your supplies, please do the following before the first day of school:

1. Please put 8 sheet protectors in the prongs of one of the plastic folders. On the front

please label Homework Folder and your name. On the inside left pocket please label

Return to School. On the inside right pocket please label Keep at Home.

2. Please put the remaining 42 sheet protectors in the prongs of the other plastic

folder. On the front please label Resources Folder and your name. On the inside left

pocket please label Malone. On the inside right pocket please label Smith.

3. Pencils, highlighters, calculators, and dry erase markers can be stored in the pencil

pouch. Please label all of your supplies with your name.

4. Ear buds should be put in a Ziploc bag also labeled with your name.

***We ask that you do not send any additional items to school with your student as we do

not have space to store them. Thank you!
