This was taken from a couple of emails circulating around my office. A coworker ask me to
put them together….so the message won’t end up in your recycle bin….. His grandson is serving our country in Iraq. It is
a pretty simple request……..
…..WILL YOU
WEAR
BLUE???
Todd Heisler The Rocky Mountain News
When 2nd Lt. James Cathey's body arrived at
the Reno Airport , Marines climbed into the cargo hold of the plane
and draped the flag over his casket as passengers watched the family gather
on the tarmac.
During the arrival of another Marine's casket last year at Denver International Airport ,
Major Steve Beck described the scene as so powerful: 'See the people in the windows?’
They sat right there in the plane , watching those Marines. You gotta wonder what's going through their minds , knowing that they're on the plane that brought him home , ' he said 'They will remember being on that plane for the rest of their lives.. They're going to remember bringing that Marine home. And they should.'
The night before the burial of her husband's body , Katherine Cathey
refused to leave the casket , asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her , tucking in the sheets
below the flag.
Before she fell asleep , she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of 'Cat ,' and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to
continue standing watch as she slept. 'I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it , ' she said. 'I think that's
what he would have wanted.'
Blue Fridays.
Very soon , you will see a great many people wearing blue every Friday.
The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the 'silent majority' We are no longer
silent , and are voicing our love for God , country and home in record
breaking numbers. We are not organized , boisterous or
overbearing.
Many Americans , like you , me and all our friends , simply want to recognize that the
vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and
support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all
come home , sending a deafening message that every red-blooded American who
supports our men and women afar , will wear something blue. By word of mouth,
press , TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of blue much like a
homecoming football game in the bleachers.
If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances , coworkers , friends , and
family , it will not be long before the USA is covered in BLUE and it will let our troops know the
once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever , certainly more than the media lets on. The
first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things better for you?' is .'We need
your support and your prayers.' Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity , by example ,
and wear something blue every Friday.

Her hair was up in a pony tailher favorite dress tied with a bowToday was Daddy's Day at school
and she couldn't wait to go
But her mommy tried to tell herthat she probably should stay home Why the kids might not understand
if she went to school alone
But she was not afraidshe knew just what to say
What to tell her classmates of why he wasn't there today
But still her mother worriedfor her to face this day aloneAnd that was why once again
she tried to keep her daughterhome
But the little girl went to school eager to tell them all
About a dad she never sees a dad who never calls
There were daddies along the wall inback for everyone to meet
Children squirming impatientlyanxious in their seats
One by one the teacher called a student from the classTo introduce their daddyas seconds slowly passed
At last the teacher called her nameevery child turned to stareEach of them was searching
a man who wasn't there
"Where's her daddy at?" She heard a boy call out
"She probably doesn't have one" another student dared to shout
And from somewhere near the backshe heard a daddy say
"Looks like another deadbeat dadtoo busy to waste his day”
The words did not offend heras she smiled up at her Mom
And looked back at her teacherWho told her to go on
And with hands behind her backslowly she began to speak
And out from the mouth of a child came words incredibly unique
"My Daddy couldn't be herebecause he lives so far away
But I know he wishes he could besince this is such a special day
And though you cannot meet himI wanted you to knowAll about my daddyand how much he
loves me so
He loved to tell me stories
he taught me to ridemy bike
He surprised me withpink roses
and taught me to fly a kite
We used to sharefudge sundaes
and ice cream in a cone. And though you cannot see himI'm not standing here alone’”
"Cause my daddy's always with meeven though we are apart I know because he told me
he'll forever be in my heart “
With that her little hand reached upand lay across her chest
Feeling her own heartbeatbeneath her favorite dress
And from somewhere there in the crowd
of dadsher mother stood in tears
Proudly watching her daughterwho was wise beyond her years
For she stood up for the love of a man not in her life
Doing what was best for herdoing what was a right
And when she dropped her hand back
downstaring straight into the crowd
She finished with a voice so softbut its message clear and loud
"I love my daddy very much
he's my shining starand if he could he'd be here
but heaven's just too far
You see he is an American Soldierand died just this past year
When a roadside bombhit his convoy and taught Americans
to fear
But sometimes when I close my eyesit's like he never went away”And then she closed her eyesand saw him there that day
And to her mother's amazementshe witnessed with surprise
A room full of daddies and children all starting to close their eyes
Who knows what they saw before them
who knows what they felt insidePerhaps for merely a second
they saw him at her side
"I know you're with me Daddy" to the silence she called out
And what happened next made believers
of those once filled with doubt
Not one in that room could explain it for each of their eyes had been closed
But there on the desk beside her was a fragrant long-stemmed pink
rose
And a child was blessed if only fora moment by the love of her shining
starAnd given the gift of believing,
that heaven is never too far
They say it takes a minute to find a special person an hour to appreciate them a day to love them but then an
entire life to forget them
