REOPENWITHCARE

The Chambersburg YMCA’s priority is to provide wellness facilities, programs, and services in a safe and effective manner. The Y’s phased reopening plan prioritizes the health and well-being of our members, staff and the communities we serve.

Phases are not time-based and entering into subsequent phases will rely on the guidance from the CDC, governor’s orders and the Y’s confidence in enforcing compliance with all COVID-19 preventative measures. Phases may be modified and revised at any time.

Currently In Phase 1

With the recent notice for expanded mask-wearing requirements amid the coronavirus pandemic, making it mandatory that all PA residents wear a mask anytime they leave home, we are clarifying our safety protocols regarding face coverings/masks. Please note, the guidelines below are subject to change.

Mask Protocol While Inside the Facility:

• All members must wear a face covering upon entering the facility• Face coverings are to remain on throughout facility usage and especially within common areas such as the fitness center,

studios, locker rooms, pool decks, hallways, etc. • Face coverings may be removed when exercising on a piece of equipment, but only if the member can do so while socially

distant. • For example: If one member is “spotting” another member while weightlifting, both members must be wearing face coverings. • Face covering are to be removed upon entering the pool and are to remain off during pool usage.• Indoor athletics remained paused as this physical activity cannot be performed safely while wearing a face covering or

socially distant.

Your workout routine may now look like this:

• Enter the Y, wearing a face covering• Clean piece of equipment before use, using your individual spray bottle• Remove face covering (if socially distant)• Complete exercise• Place face covering back on • Clean piece of equipment after use• Move to next piece of equipment, while wearing face covering

Mask Protocol While Outside the Facility:

• Face coverings are not required to be worn when outside the facility and socially distant. • For example: Campers and camp counselors, while outside and socially distant, do not need to wear a face covering.

Upon entering the facility, face covering are to be worn until adequately within the program space and socially distant.• Members participating in outdoor group exercise classes and remain socially distant, do not need to wear a facecovering.

The YMCA ARK Child Development Center welcomed back a limited number of students in June. The ARK teachers adjusted their classroom procedures to promote health and safety. From lining up while following social distancing guidelines to wearing their masks during story time, the ARK students impressed their teaches by learning new ways of doing everyday tasks. On June 11th, the ARK marked its 8th birthday, and students and teachers celebrated with a week of special activities. Students enjoyed dressing for their dream jobs, a pajama party, and, of course, Miss Cook’s famous grilled hotdogs on cookout day. Students and staff are happy to learn together again and are looking forward to a summer of fun!

ARK REOPENING

The Y Fit summer program, A STRONGER YOU, kicked off on June 15th. The program supports and encourages youth to participate in 60 minutes of physical activity daily. Youth submit weekly logs and for those meeting at least 4 days of 60 minutes get a special shout-out and will be eligible to receive the end-of-the-summer prize!

For more information, contact Kyle Warner at [email protected] or 717-263-8508

LAP SWIMMING PROCEDURESWe hope you have been enjoying getting back in the pool! We are seeing our reservations increase and want to enable as many members to come back and swim as possible.

• Every Monday, swimmers may RSVP for the next (following) full week• Only RSVP one time slot of 45 minutes; if someone wants to come back and swim a 2nd time in the day, no problem…

just cannot book two 45 minute slots back to back• If a lane is open after your swim time, we can move you over to continue

swimming…however, Keep in mind, someone might walk in and RSVP an open lane. At that point we’d have to ask you to finish.

• Best to arrive no more than 5 to 8 minutes before your swim. We are required to sanitize in between the swim periods, so please be patient and allow us time to complete that. If we get done quickly, we have allowed swimmers to slip in before the hour. We also want to allow previous swimmers time to dry off, gather their things, etc. and keep social distancing as recommended by the CDC.
