2015-2016 LCPS Scholarship Application Description: American Disposal Services, Inc., a local family-owned and operated waste hauler, continuously promotes proper waste and recycling practices through education and outreach programs for all communities in Northern Virginia. The aim of the American Disposal Services, Inc. Scholarship is to reward those students who have joined American Disposal Services’ efforts in making a significant impact on their school, community, and/or home that betters the environment. A one-time scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be provided to ONE student of LCPS demonstrating environmental stewardship at school, in the community, or in their home. Finalists will be determined by each LCPS High School’s Career Center and submitted to American Disposal Services for review. American Disposal Services will select its recipient from this pool of finalists. Deadlines: o Deadline for application and all required documents to your High School Career Center: March 7, 2016 o Deadline for finalist to be submitted to American Disposal Services from High School Career Center: April 7, 2016 o Students will be notified via their Career Center Specialist prior to the end of the school year OR the End of Year School Awards Ceremony (if applicable) Limitations Graduating High School Senior US Citizen or permanent resident Must have participated in ONE of the following: o Completed an Environmental Science class at any high school level o Joined an environmentally-focused group or committee at school or in the community Submit Entries: American Disposal Services, Inc.
