ALL SAINTS SUNDAYNOVEMBER 1, 2020
“God at Work” from The Encyclopedia of Calligraphy and Illuminated Lettersby Janet Mehigan and Mary Noble
“Village Chapel Presbyterian Church is a congregation of God’s people, a lively community of faith, striving to serve God according to God’s ever evolving plan; passionately seeking opportunities to reflect God’s love in our everyday lives through service, humility, self-examination and reflection, study and prayer. We are called to be generous and wise stewards of our God given gifts, talents, money and earthly resources, both as individuals and as the Body of Christ. Our mission, simply stated is that we are called to love, and to serve, and to be beacons of Christ’s endless love and forgiveness, spreading God’s eternal light to all people.”

GREETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALLED TOGETHER
PRELUDE “Steal Away to Jesus” Gilbert MartinCALL TO WORSHIP1
Come, saints and sinners! Come and rest from your labors in this holy time.We come as those who feebly struggle:We honor and celebrate those who now shine in glory.We come as a blest communion, a fellowship divine.We come, meeting God and each other in this sacred moment.
HYMN NO. 326 “For All the Saints” (vs. 1,3,5) SINE NOMINEPRAYER OF CONFESSION
We come to you, Merciful Redeemer, our hands soiled with the pain we have caused, our ears stuffed with false words, our minds buzzing with doubts,our hearts stained with longings we are ashamed for others to know.
Forgive us and have mercy on us. As we seek to journey from these baptismal waters
towards the feast you prepare in glory, may we turn our faces towards you in every moment, listen to your words in the depths of our hearts, and follow Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, every step of the way.
(silent prayers of confession) And all God’s people say, Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Because we have been buried with Christ in these waters, we are raised to new life in him, with all the saints. Forgiven and freed, let us live lives worthy of our calling; Filled with the Holy Spirit, let us do God’s work in the world. Alleluia! Amen!
SHARING THE PEACE “The peace of Christ be with you.” “And also with you!”SONG OF PRAISE “Your Faithfulness, O Lord, Is Sure” v.41 The Call to Worship was inspired by the opening hymn, “For All the Saints”; the Confession and Pardon are based on the work of Thom Shuman at Lectionary Liturgies.
My mouth shall speak your praise, O Lord,My soul shall bless your holy name;
Let all things living join the songOf praise, from age to age the same.
