Task 1 – Identifying Right Angles (1 Dojo Point) Click on the link below to watch a short video about right angles.https://youtu.be/9PakNIwDin4
Look around your home for different objects that have right angles.
Write and/or draw a list of the objects that you find. Count the number of right angles in each object.
Remember: A right angle is 90°. Squares and rectangles have 4 right angles – one in
each corner.
Task 2 – Calculating Area (1 Dojo Point) Click on the link below to watch a short video clip about area.https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zjbg87h/articles/zwqt6fr
To work out the area of a square or rectangle, you multiply (times x) its length (the longer side) by its width (the shorter side). If the length and width are in cm, the area is shown in cm². If the length and width are in m, the area is shown in m².
A rectangle with a length of 5cm and a width of 3cm has an area of 15cm² because 5 × 3 = 15.Look around your home for different objects in the shape of a square or rectangle. How many can you find?
Choose ‘at least’ 5 of the objects you find. Use a ruler or measuring tape, to carefully measure
the length and width of each object. Find the area of each object by multiplying its
length by its width.
CHALLENGE:1. Create 2 squares and 2 rectangles of your own.2. Work out the area of the shapes you have created.3. Draw a shape with an area of 12cm.4. Draw a shape with an area of 24cm.5. Draw a shape with an area of 30cm.
Remember to use a ruler to draw your shapes accurately.
Task 3 – Looking at Patterns (1 Dojo Point) Explore your garden OR with a member of your household, go for a nature walk as part of your daily exercise.
Carefully look for different patterns that can be found in the natural world around you. For example:
Snail shell Butterfly Fern leaf Pebble
How many different natural patterns can you find? What shapes and colours can you see on each of
the patterns? Discuss what is special about each of the patterns
with someone in your family. For example: Are they symmetrical? Do they repeat? Think of different words (adjectives) to describe the patterns.
Draw at least’ 5 different patterns that you find. Pay attention to the detail of the shapes, colours and other special features that are in each pattern.
Label your pattern drawings (see examples above). Add words to describe each of the patterns.
EXTRA CHALLENGES:1. What is your favourite pattern? Explain why.2. What is your least favourite pattern? Explain why.3. Design a pattern of your own, using ideas from the
observations you made during your nature walk. Try to include a special feature eg: repetition; symmetry.
4. Label your pattern to show where in nature it can be found.
5. Describe the shape and colour of the pattern you have created.
You can use paper or JiT to complete these tasks. If you use paper, take a photo of your work
and upload it to your HWB folder.Topic Work Countries and Cultures

ICT/Physical/Outdoors
Task 1 – ICT: Data Handling 1 Dojo PointThis week we are going to look at data again and so you need to use ‘Chart’ in Jit (the orange tab at the top). I’d like you to choose 5 Italian foods (e.g. pizza, spaghetti, ice-cream, lasagne, bruschetta, tiramisu) and put them into the table.Next, either ask family members which their favourite food is, or if you are restricted with this then make up your own results! Display your data as a bar or block chart. I then want you to say which is the most popular and least popular food.
Task 2 – ICT: Health and Wellbeing 1 Dojo PointLast week you looked at PEGI ratings on computer games. This week I’d like you to write about how important it is balancing screen time. Why is it important to balance time spent in front of a screen with time away doing other things? Use Jit to write your ideas down.
Think about how being in front of a screen makes you feel and how it affects you physically.
