CHAPTER 13CCT TEST ITEM – MAGNETIC EFECT OF CURRENT

Test Item:-1Deflection of Compass Needle

In the given activity current flow through the copper wire and compass needle show deflection. After some time, we change the directions of flow of current and observe the effect of needle deflection. Needle deflection direction is changed.

Q. 1.What conclusion draw when compass needle deflect after flow of current in a copper wire?

Ans—Current carrying wire produces magnetic field around it which exerts force on the magnetic needle so it gets deflected.Full credit ---above answer. No credit ---any other answer

Q.2.Change in the direction of Needle deflection indicates that when the direction of current in the copper wire changes or reverses, direction of magnetic field also changes in opposite direction.Full credit --above answer. No credit -any other.

Test Item—2Magnetic Field

In the given current flows the straight conductor v

MIRACLE OF MAGNETA magnet is a material or object that produces a magnetic field. This magnetic field is invisible but is responsible for the most notable property of a magnet: A force that pulls on other ferromagnetic materials, such as iron, and attracts or repels other magnets. Some materials, such as chromium, showed paramagnetism, being capable of weak induced magnetization when brought near a magnet. This magnetization disappears when the magnet is removed . Only three elements iron, nickel and cobalt , showed the property of ferromagnetism(i.e., the capability of remaining permanently magnetized).

1. What kind of magnet is shown in image ?……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..2. Rajesh observed more magnetic field lines near poles. What does it indicate ?……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….3. Shruti was playing with bar magnet and iron nails. She observed that iron nail get attracted towards magnet. She found that that iron nail could attract other nails too.Why this happened?…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….4. Will Shruti observe same when she use the following things in place of iron nail.

On 8 December 2019, a fire occurred at a factory building in Anaj Madi area of Delhi, India. At least 43 people died and more than 56 were injured. The fire started in a workshop that produced school bags and shoes. The Delhi Fire engines reached the location and extinguished the fire .The cause of the fire is being investigated; A preliminary investigation and eye witness claims have suggested an electrical short circuit may have been the cause.

1. What will be the cause of short circuiting?…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………2. As per information, why did it cause massive distraction to human life?……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….3. What should be the expected reasons of short circuit ?……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….4. Can we avoid such accidents? How?………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
