Introductions Helena introduced the group to newcomers, explaining the Localism Act and how we were formed. The draft neighbourhood plan is just about ready to go out to pre-submission consultation. The boundaries of the Hackbridge designated area were discussed and it was noted that a significant feature locally is the Wandle Valley Regional Park, one of the things that makes us special. The background to the Viridor incinerator was discussed and made clear the NDG opposed the incinerator. Helena reported on redevelopment of the Felnex site and the land by Hackbridge station. (Question from the floor: what effect does this have on parking?) Lengthy discussion of Hackbridge Corner redesign took place. 2. Parking Nikki Watkins gave a thorough presentation on parking issues and possible solutions.

Minutes of meeting at BedZED Pavilion, Wednesday 28 October 2015, 7.30pm

Apologies:

1. Introductions

Helena introduced the group to newcomers, explaining the Localism Act and how we were formed.

(Question from the floor: what effect does this have on parking?)

Lengthy discussion of Hackbridge Corner redesign took place.

2. Parking

Nikki Watkins gave a thorough presentation on parking issues and possible solutions.

A brief overview is that Hackbridge is in zone 4, so is £392 per year cheaper to travel from than a station in zone 5.

Because of the way streets are being developed, car parking spaces are being lost.

Comment from the floor: parking problems are aggravated because too many houses are being built.

When Saxon House site was an office block there wasn’t a problem because there was an underground car park there.

Helena: conflict of interest between residents who need parking permit for CPZ, visitor permits, permits for second and third cars.

Nikki recommending we organise a petition asking for CPZ. In those streets where enough residents support the idea, Sutton Council would do parking surveys to establish whether there is a need for a CPZ. Sutton Council web site says CPZs could be set up within six to twelve months.

Action: Nikki to create documents, make them available, volunteers to knock on doors in selected streets.

Meeting closed 9.55pm
