A Letter from the Editor:

They say that April showers bring May flowers. I am certainly hoping that this is the case this year. Although we have had a mild winter in comparison to many, the up and down with the temperatures has left our back yard in "skating rink" mode. We need some warm now and some warm showers to fix all that...or a new pair of skates, whichever is more appropriate.

Thank you to all of the contributors to FLIGHT. You guys totally Rock! We have some really good articles and perspectives that are shared this month. I know you will enjoy it.

Please feel free to share this with whomever may be interested. And if you receive this and want to be on the automatic mailing list for your free subscription, please send me an email and request that to [email protected].

Enjoy the read!

Deerhorn Shamanic Services Floating Drum Circle

The Floating Drum Circle will now be available!

What is a Floating Drum Circle? It is a Drum Circle that is able to move from one location to another.

How does this work? Invite a minimum of 10 friends over for a drum circle in the privacy of your own home. Trent brings the supplies for the Drum Circle and the Ceremony.

Ceremony? Yes. As you all know, Trent's Drum Circles are Ceremony/Ritual based, which makes them both spectacular and unique. These celebrations can be in accordance to the phase of the Moon, or the Season, or whatever you choose to celebrate.

Who is in charge? You are in charge of the space and the people you invite and the number of people you can comfortably accommodate. Trent is in charge of the circle once it begins.

What if I don't have 10 people? It is important to have the minimum of 10 in order to be financially feasible for Trent to lead the circle. Upon your request in advance of the registration date, Trent can share the date and time and contact number with his contacts who can then contact you to see if there is enough space.

Who pays? Each person pays their fee ($20) ahead of the date of the Drum Circle. If the fee is not paid 3 days in advance of the circle, the spot goes to the next person in line on the waiting list. The host/hostess collects all fees and pays Trent before the circle begins on the date set. Hosts/Hostesses get the Drum Circle free of charge.

Children in attendance must be strictly monitored by their parents.

Any damaged supplies must be paid for or replaced by the one who damaged it (or parents if it is a child) by a similar article of equal or greater value.

What is the method of payment? Cash only. This makes it much easier for the host/hostess to collect.

To arrange for a Floating Drum Circle in your home, please contact Trent Deerhorn at [email protected] or at (306) 978-5300.

Rock Talk by Ave Riddler

Fire AgateKnown for its bright iridescent flashes of red, orange, green, and gold in a dark brown base, this agate is prized as a more gemmy mineral. Included are pictures of both tumbled and more gemmy versions.

There is a very primal earthy energy in fire agate; it offers a strong connection to the root and sacral chakras, with some carryover into the solar plexus. This can

make it a very good mineral to work with while doing any kind of in body meditations, and body based energy work. It can also help one rediscover their zest for life, and bring their focus back to more earthly matters if they have been focusing on their higher spiritual journey. Creating vitality while adding sparks of creativity, to their life force, sexuality and will. This primal earthy energy makes Fire Agate a good tool while working on any kind of sexual or physical

focus. This can make fire agate a useful aid when dealing in spiritual workings that may need a more direct and focused approach.

This agate is believed to help dispel fear, as well as deep set anxiety, while providing a protective shield that will reflect any potential harmful intent back to its source. This combines

to generate empowerment and courage to take measured risks that may have before seemed too great.

Fire agate can help break undesired impulses that can hold one back from self acceptance,

Page 9: deerhornshamanic.com · Web view3 days in advance. of the circle, the spot goes to the next person in line on the waiting list. The host/hostess collects all fees and pays Trent .

and enlightenment, while adjusting the patterns that caused these impulses. These changes can create a better understanding of the cause of those undesired impulses. While changing those patterns this also means fire agate is a great aid in moving forward with actions and plans which would have been hindered by past patterns.

Between the protective energy and the new patterns created, fire agate can help fuel new initiatives into future projects of introspection, manifestation, or inspiration. This motivating energy can help one to take more decisive action forward, from a more personally stable intent and focus. This agate can also help dispel feelings of humdrum, resignation, or hopelessness.

Physically Fire agate may help dissolve blockages and improve treatments of circularly systems, including the central nervous system. It can also be used to enhance treatments of disorders of the eyes, most notably clarity of sight, and limited night vision. It is believed to help with treatments of lethargy, and depression. Potentially also helpful when treating sexual imbalances.

THE WINDBy Gail Fulkerson

From her gently blowing breezesTo her screaming cyclonesAnd every mood in between,No one has ever raced the wind And won.

The trees applaud her powerAs the wind gleefully jitters their leavesAs she passes.Pools of still water ripple joyfully

Page 10: deerhornshamanic.com · Web view3 days in advance. of the circle, the spot goes to the next person in line on the waiting list. The host/hostess collects all fees and pays Trent .

Beneath the touch of her breath.

The wind whips the snowsInto a frenzied blizzard of whitenessAcross the open Prairie.

Rain slashes at the land, Driving the rain sidewaysAs the wind impels it forward.

Tall grasses are laid flat in the fieldsBy the lashing winds,Ditches fill with rainwater,Roads wash out;The storm rages.Nothing escapes her wrath.

Ocean waves rise higher,Crashing into deeper troughs,Falling drunkenly one into another,In the teeth of a bone-shattering howler.

Clouds, as black as charcoal, Scud across the sky,Swept along by gusting winds,As they cross above Unfamiliar lands and waters,Transforming the landscapes belowInto shadow lands.

The wind can be a gentle caressAs it plays with one’s hair,Or a face-biting devil,With the singular intent Of ripping the flesh from your bones.

The wind can be our ally or enemy. Her moods are various and unpredictable.Listen to her voice as she passes. She is always imparting her wisdom.

Thought for the Day:

The most powerful thing you can do to change the world, is to change your own beliefs about the nature of life, people, reality, to something more positive...and begin to act accordingly.

The following are paraprosdokians. A paraprosdokian

is a figure of speech in which the latter part of a

sentence is unexpected and sometimes even humorous:

Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a

From 365 Zen daily readings by Jean Smith

Senzaki Sensei used to ask, "When you hear a dog bark, do you think of your own dog?" That is a very interesting question. For if you do, then very soon - immediately, in fact - you are running through the fields in a totally different place and time. You are following up on the sound and its associations - on and on. Your mind is unsettled, and so you are led around by sounds and forms. You are at the mercy of the bark. When you are at rest in silence, however, that bark is at your mercy - your own bark.

Reflections from the Shaman's Hut

In Harm's Way

By Trent Deerhorn

I find it difficult to believe how much disregard humans have for one another. Over the last week, I have heard stories of people who are definitely exposed to Covid-19 NOT self-isolating, and, in fact, going out of their way to infect other people with the disease. One spat in another's face. Another got tested and then went on a pub crawl when she was supposed to isolate herself for just a few days until the tests came back, which were POSITIVE. All the while she is posting on social media about how fun it is to have that danger element...while in a LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE. I seriously hope that people like this are charged with reckless endangerment at the very least, murder at the very best if anyone dies as a direct result of their idiotic behavior.

Yes, sometimes this Shaman gets a wee bit pissed off at people. And that, my friends, can actually end up more dangerous that a pandemic!

Please, wise up folks! A plague is a PLAGUE. It KILLS PEOPLE. And to be stupid enough to think that you are somehow automatically immune to it, based upon your age, your current health,

Page 15: deerhornshamanic.com · Web view3 days in advance. of the circle, the spot goes to the next person in line on the waiting list. The host/hostess collects all fees and pays Trent .

your total stupidity, is moronic at best, evil at worst. If you want to gamble with YOUR life, have at it. But DO NOT GAMBLE WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES.

Encouragements for Personal Development:

Taken from Meditations with James Van Praagh

Negative psychic energy often is attracted to us by our own fearful thoughts and feelings like anger, resentment, envy and hatred. the way to avoid negative psychic energy is to persist in the positive and let go of depressing thoughts and unkind attitudes.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac 2020:

A Balm for Sore Eyes

Bee Balm is a spectacular garden plant and pollinator magnet. It likes plenty of sun and well-draining soil and flowers from mid-July to late summer. Numerous beneficial insects and hummingbirds, as well as the hummingbird moth, are attracted to the plant's brightly colored blooms of red, pink, and purple. Unfortunately, these pretty petals are often saddled by white, crusty leaves, due to the plant's high susceptibility to powdery mildew. To avoid, stick to disease-resistant varieties, such as "Colrain Red," Marshall's Delight," and "Violet Queen."

Thomas Fuller, English writer (1608-61)

Ask the Shaman: With Trent Deerhorn

Q: What is the Higher Purpose behind this Covid-19?

A: Higher Purpose???? You have to be KIDDING me. There is NO HIGHER PURPOSE. I know, people really get off on thinking that "everything happens for a reason." Here is the thing. Covid-19 is a MAN-MADE virus that KILLS PEOPLE. Please to NOT entertain the ridiculous perspective that this was "meant to be." This is something that some evil mastermind consciously released into the general populace, most likely for some political gain. And now people are dying. Did I mention that people are DYING?!

Page 17: deerhornshamanic.com · Web view3 days in advance. of the circle, the spot goes to the next person in line on the waiting list. The host/hostess collects all fees and pays Trent .

What we are left with, however, is how to make the best of this disgustingly horrible situation. That is the art of transmutation; the ability to transmute a poison into a medicine. So let's look at what this is teaching us (hopefully) along the way:

1. Life is precious and you never know when some idiot is going to mess with that.

2. There is nothing at all wrong with isolation. It gives ample opportunity to go into the inner stillness and inner silence and LISTEN to our Inner Wisdom Voice.

3. Really good hygiene is essential to good health. It is not just about, "I don't like being dirty," as much as it is about, "I don't want to spread viruses and germs to everyone around me."

4. Increased awareness of how stupid and selfish humans can be...case in point, hoarding toilet paper.

5. How wonderfully supportive and helpful humans can be when they choose to be, as evidenced by the fact that there are many in the health field who are working very long hours to help those infected or possibly infected, there are many in the food service who are making sure that pick-up and delivery is available, there are many in the janitorial services who are constantly disinfecting and cleaning surfaces so that the pandemic does not spread etc. These are true heroes. And not one of them wears a cape or flies through the air or leaps tall buildings.

6. This is pretty much how the fictional Zombie Apocalypse begins, so if you do not want to be craving human brains for the rest of your life, get a brain now and respect the distance between you and another and wash your hands and do not touch your face.

7. Remembering that Face Time, Skype, Face Book Messenger Video Chat...all of that...has been created and therefore needs to be used so that we can talk face to face with our loved ones with whom we are unable to be in the same room. We need to be able to keep that PERSONAL connection going, which texting just does not accomplish at all.

These are just a few of the things that are positively coming out of this situation. But a HIGHER PURPOSE? No. Just NO.
