Module TCG 5.4 – V2

Welcome the participants:

Welcome to this module.

Before beginning, let's look together at the objectives of this module and how it is rolled out.

Show slide 2.

This module is intended to put the Stop Card in your hands. The objective is for you to know what the Stop Card is and know how to use it by the end of the module.

Let's look together at what it is, what it is useful for, and how it is used.

Ensure that the contents are clear to everyone.Answer any potential questions.

5 minutes 00:05

Sequence 1: The aim of the sequence: participants should understand that the Stop Card is a tool used to give everyone the means to intervene in the event of dangerous situations, and that the Group encourages them to do so in order to advance in the field of safety.

In previous modules, we have already mentioned the Stop Card as one of the risk prevention tools.

Does anyone have any idea what it is, and what its purpose is (what is it used for)?

Everyone.Let the participants discuss ideas on the Stop Card.

10 minutes 00:15

Let us look at precisely what this involves.

Show slide 3 and ask a volunteer to read it aloud. Do the same for slides 4, 5, 6 and 7.

On slide 8, clarify that the Stop Card is a tool for everyone, but that there are specific roles to take into account.

To link it with the following exercise, clarify that the Stop Card is a delegation of authority to be used as a last resort. Above all, we must intervene by encouraging discussion.

15 minutes 00:30

Sequence 2: The aim of the sequence: participants should understand the procedures for taking action with a Stop card: first of all: "Discuss", then "Get the point across" and only "use the Stop Card" if necessary.

Module TCG 5.4 – V2

To put all this into practice, I have a small exercise for you.

Show slide 9, then answer the 3 questions with everyone.

Once answered, ask how they would proceed, specifying if needed that they must start with a discussion.

Answer 1 : Whether you work for Total or as an operator from a contracted company, regardless of your job or level of responsibility, you have the authority to intervene if you judge the situation to be hazardous.

Answer 2 : You thought the situation was hazardous, so you did well to intervene. Using the Stop Card does not expose you to any penalties from Total or a contracted company. The objective is first and foremost to engage in a constructive conversation to move forward together.

Answer 3 : You have every right to report the risk and your intervention should be welcomed with goodwill, as with any use of the Stop Card. Whether you are in the profession or not, whether you know what to do or not, you must intervene and report. This enables those involved to stop, make the situation safe and then to correct it or, if necessary, to adapt the way they work, in conjunction with their manager. Finally, if the problem cannot be resolved, the manager of the entity will arbitrate.

To ensure that it is clear to everyone, ask participants to describe how they would use the Stop Card.Encourage discussions. If there are questions, rephrase and then have other participants answer.

To sum up: show slide 10, specifying that it is part of the Group Guide & Manual, therefore applicable to all.

Summarize the 3 steps: "Discuss", "Get the point across" then "use the Stop Card".

Do not let them think that they can use the Stop Card in the first instance. Emphasize, if necessary, that it is a tool to be used as a last resort.

10 minutes 00:40

Let us now move on to a simulation. It involves roleplaying situations, taking the information above into account.

Simulation:

Choose a scenario from the tutorial in the Stop Card kit. Each tutorial is built the same way. They provide detailed instructions for facilitating awareness/training by discussion, using simple examples on how to use the Stop Card.

Read the animated guide and have all of the material available (video etc.)

Example of tutorial on the topic of “working at height”:

15 minutes 00:55

To conclude this module, I would like you to create a summary on using the Stop Card in your respective sectors.

Do you see the types of situations in which you might use the Stop Card?

Start a quick round table discussion, specifying how each participant should use the Stop Card.

Emphasize once again that the Stop Card is a delegation of authority to be used as a last resort. Above all, we must intervene by encouraging discussion.

Thank everyone.
