When will I receive approval for fee assistance? You will receive an approval certificate within 7-10 business days of the completion of both the family and provider applications.

When are fee assistance payments made? Fee assistance is paid to the provider at the end of the month within 7-10 business days of Child Care Aware® of America’s receipt of the completed attendance sheets.

How Is fee assistance calculated?Fee assistance is determined by calculating the difference between the community child care provider’s monthly rate, which shall not exceed the branch’s predetermined fair market cap for your locality, and the installation military child care rate for similar services based on total family income. If a family chooses a provider who charges more than the maximum fair market locality cap, then the family isresponsible to pay the military child care rate for their income category, as well as the additional provider cost beyond the cap. Additionally, if the difference between the community provider’s rate and the military installation child care rate is less than $25/month, then a monthly fee assistance reimbursement will not be awarded.

Family child care homes and childcare centers may pursue accreditation in order to increase the quality of their care. Accredited providers must meet higher standards than
