You can paint mysterious, moody, wonderful paintings of the evening or night in watercolor. Learn how to plan a night painting, and how to mix rich dark colors. We will practice techniques for painting sunsets, stars, moonlight, lights, and shadows at night. Peg will show you how, through demonstrations, step-by-step color worksheets, and individual help.

Materials List (call me if you have questions):

A medium to large sized palette (or a butcher tray or white plate, etc). Paints: I suggest you bring the following: Ultramarine or cobalt blue; Prussian or Thalo or Antwerp blue, any green, any brown; alizarin crimson or

quinacridone magenta or similar red; any yellow; and either Paynes Gray or Indigo.  Other colors you can bring if you have them: neutral tint, Mineral Violet, Thalo or Winsor Green. If you have white gouache or acrylic, bring that also (or use mine).  Also bring any other colors you love. 

A large (quart or so) water container. A large yogurt or mayonnaise container works well.  Brushes: a small and a large round brush, a 1"  flat brush, a rigger and a scrubber A pencil, eraser, and something to take notes on (or a sketchbook) Masking fluid, if you have it (we can share) Paper towels A small amount of table salt Professional watercolor paper.  I recommend Arches 140 lb. cold press paper.  If you prefer to paint on Arches 140 lb hot press, that is fine. Do not

bring Strathmore or Cotman paper.  Cut or tear several (about 6) pieces to about 8X10 or 9X11 size.  A board to place your paper on.  It could be a piece of foam core, wood, etc.  It should be slightly larger than your paper.  Also bring a small piece

of wood or something to prop up the top of your board about an inch.  Or you could bring a table easel. Photos of evening or night scenes that inspire you
