Reading for pleasure. Literacy: Read the poem The Secret Song by Margaret Wise Brown (below)

The poem is made up of a series of questions and answers. I would like you to highlight each question sentence in the poem in one colour and each answers sentence in another. How many questions are there? How many answers?

Look at the following sheet: ‘question words’.Read, then write each question word twice in your neatest handwriting. Start each word with a capital letter. Practise forming question marks too. Next, I would like you to name the animals that were mentioned in The Secret Song. Think of 4 new animals you like or know a lot about. Draw these animals and write a question that you would ask each animal. For example: Where do you go at night, Badger? What do you eat, Ladybird?

Make sure you spell your question words accurately. Start your sentences with a capital letter. Finish your sentences with question marks. Challenge yourself to use a different question word each time.

Spelling: I saw that Miss Deay had asked Year Two to do something silly with their spellings and I thought you would like it too! I would like you to choose 5 of the words from the spelling list and write them in your handwriting book with the hand that you wouldn’t normally write with. So, if you usually write with your right hand then write these words with your left. If you normally write with your left hand, try and write these words with your right hand. HAVE SOME FUN WITH IT! Project: ICTI would like you to practise your typing skills. I would like you to type out the 4 questions that you created for your literacy above. Remember capital letters and question marks. You might need to ask an adult to help you with the question marks.

Hold down either of the shift buttons.
