The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

I. GENERAL STATEMENT

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and the Nicolas Maduro Administration is both honored and privileged to be invited to the OAS 2019 Summit of the Americas. The Republic of Venezuela understands the hardships that not only plague its own country, but the Western Hemisphere as well.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela does not neglect the fact that is had occasionally been at ends with the OAS but would like to bring with its delegation a tone of open cooperation. Venezuela as a country has fallen on harsh times do to the open disdain for the current administration, despite its continued efforts to utilize policies that have in the past strengthened the people of Venezuela, and other states apart of the OAS. We as a delegation hope to insight the same sort of efforts out of ourselves and each other as we push forward to hold the OAS true to its charter. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela would like to push for more joint efforts over fundamental matters like the budget and member state cooperation over border security. Along with these matters, the OAS can only go so far to control elections and campaigns in respected countries, as well as a member states involvement in stirring up macro-economic activity within a respected country.

Despite our best efforts to engage in open cooperation with each individual member state, it should not be overlooked that the Venezuelan Delegation is likely to face irreverence and counterproductive resistance to our cause, which echoes the sentiments of our countrymen and those people within our hemisphere. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela would like to counter this with a dedication to the same principles and policies brought about by Hugo Chavez, who will always remain a pioneer of Chavismo and an example of the ideal civil servant.

Again, the Delegation of Venezuela is bringing about a tone of cooperation with all member states and is delighted to be a part of the Summit of Americas. It must be stated however, that this delegation hopes to hold the body and all organs of the OAS true to its charter and commitment to the people of our hemisphere. We are nothing but a useless gathering if we do not consider our principles and our people as top priority.
