Learners must investigate how filmsare perceived by audiences as well as how they themselves respond to films. The topic under investigation is ‘Genre’.
ScenarioFor this assignment you are required to research and explain how meaning is constructed in film through analysis of visual and technical signification. You are required to choose a Genre topic to develop and show your understanding of signifiers. You can present your research in whichever form you prefer. This can be an essay, presentation or structured statement in audio, video or multimedia. You will be expected to present a short synopsis of your chosen genre topic to class. You are required to use a film or films with genre characteristics and explain using media language how genres are identified. Present your completed work with quotations, footnotes and references to support your analysis and understanding of the points that you are making in your essay and make sure that you focus specifically on the assessment criteria’s and tasks set for this assignment.
