SYNOPSIS:

A Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department, School of Engineering, The University of Jordan, Amman-Jordan. Director and founder of the Renewable Energy Master Program at the University of Jordan. Also, the director and founder of Environmental Technology and Climate Change Master Program at the University of Jordan. Ex-Director of Water, Energy and Environment Center at the University of Jordan. Also, Ex-Director of Energy Center at the University of Jordan. A former chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Jordan. A consultant and Expert in the design and selection of a Photovoltaic systems and the instructor of PV course for the master program at the University of Jordan.

A Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erlangen-Germany in April 2001. M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees with honor from Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Jordan. Having special interest in Fluid Mechanics, Turbulence Flow, Two-Phase Flow, MEMS, Micro pumps, Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Renewable Energy such as Solar Energy, Wind Energy and Biomass. Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh has a good research in the area of Thermal flow Sensors (Patent registered in Germany), Flow-Measurement Techniques such as Hot-Wire Anemometer (HWA) and Laser-Doppler Anemometer (LDA), and Turbulence Phenomena. Having many papers in the international Journals and an active in

participating in many scientific conferences. Currently, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is an assessor for Jordan Accreditation System (JAS). During the summers of 2002-2012, Prof. Al-Salaymeh was invited by the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg, Germany, Institute for Micro technology, Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany, Institute for Aerodynamic und Gas dynamic, University of Stuttgart, Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe / Standort Höxter, where scientific research in fluid mechanics, instrumentation and renewable energy was conducted. Currently, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is very active in the field of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Water management. He participated in many national and international workshops in the field of the Solar Energy, Photovoltaic, Biomass and Bio fuel in addition to the water management.

Prof. Al-Salaymeh is Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Carbon Reduction Manager (CRM). Authorized trainer for the Association of Energy Engineer-AEE, USA. Team member / Reviewer for Environmental, health and safety of Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) Photovoltaic Technology and evaluator for the First Solar PV production facility. Energy consultant for the Fresh Fruit Company for installing a Photovoltaic System for electricity generation with 2.0 M.W capacity. Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is an expert in the field of Photovoltaic and he is teaching the PV course for the master students in the Renewable Energy program. Prof. Al-Salaymeh participated in many technical committees in Jordan to study the and design the PV systems for some places in Jordan such as the University of Islamic sciences, Amman Applied university and Philadelphia University. Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh designed a complete PV system for the campus of the University of Jordan.

Prof. Al-Salaymeh is a guest editor for Energy Conversion and Management Journal and the Journal of Sustainable Cities and Society. He is also a member in the editorial board for a number of international Journals such as a Sustainable Cities and Society, Scientific World Journal, Journal of Energy, Current Environmental Engineering. Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is a reviewer for many international Journals. Prof. Al-Salaymeh organized and participated in many workshops, seminars and conferences. Prof. Al-Salaymeh organized and chaired the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth Global Conference of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency for Desert Regions (GCREEDER) in April 2009, April 2011, September 2013, April 2016 and April 2018. Prof. Al-Salaymeh was the chairman of the organizing committee for the GCREEDER conferences. Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh was the chairman of the organizing committee for the first German-Jordanian Winter Academy in the field of Combustion and Fluid Mechanics which was held in Amman-Jordan in February 2006. He was also the chairman of the organizing committee for the first German-Jordanian Workshop on Combustion and Oil Shale which was held in Amman at February 2008. Prof. Al-Salaymeh was also the chairman of the second German-Jordanian Workshop on Energy and Alternative Fuel which was held in Amman at October 2009. Prof. Al-Salaymeh was also the chairman of the third German-Jordanian Workshop on the potential of Renewable Energy which was held in Amman at October 2010. He was also the chairman of the organizing committee for the 4th German Jordanian workshop on the solar energy and concentrated solar power which was held in Amman at February 2012. He was also the chairman of the organizing committee for the 5th German Jordanian workshop on the solar energy which was held in Amman at September 2013. He organized also many activities and international workshops in the field of Energy, Renewable Energy and Green building such as Greening Prospects workshop in July 2009, Utilizing the Renewable Energy Technology in Architectural Design in November 2009, Energy

Regulation in 2010, a series of workshops about strategy and the technologies to produce electricity in Jordan by 2050 during 2016-2017. Prof. Al-Salaymeh participated in many conferences and workshops in the field of renewable energy such as: the 12th German-Arab Business Forum (Renewable Energy Sector) in Berlin during June 2009, 14th German-Arab Business Forum (Renewable Energy Sector) in Berlin during October 2013, 16th German-Arab Business Forum (Renewable Energy Sector) in Berlin during October 2017. Also, he participated in the workshop: Solar Cooling Technology in the Mashriq-Region-Technical which was held in Damascus during July 2009. He participated in the workshop: Energy Efficiency: Strategic Agenda for Government and Inducting Aspects and Feasibility in the Region which was held in Amman during November 2009. Prof. Al-Salaymeh visited Italy in October 2009 and participated in Workshop which entitles Alternative Response Actions to Climate Change and Energy Options. In January 2009, Prof. Al-Salaymeh attended an intensive training course in Berlin, Germany entitles: Solar Geothermal, Renewable Academy AG (RENAC). During August and September of 2009. In September 2013, Prof. Al-Salaymeh was one member of the official Jordanian delegates who visited the Energy power plants in South Korea for a period of 3 weeks. He attended in South Korea a training program which entitles: Energy Planning and Development. Also, he participated in most of renewable energy and energy efficiency workshops and conferences which were organized in Jordan, region and worldwide. Prof. Al-Salaymeh was also a member in the Education Committee of the Jordan Green Building Council. Prof. Al-Salaymeh participated in a series of workshops, seminars and conferences during the period from 2010-2018 in many European countries which dealt with renewable energy and environment. He was invited as a keynote speaker and participated effectively in these workshops which were organized in England, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Belgium.

Prof. Al-Salaymeh is also an expert in the Field of Energy Regulation. He taught Energy Regulation course under the frame of the master program of Regulation and Competition in cooperation with the college of Europe. Prof. Al-Salaymeh attended many courses and training sessions in the field of Energy Regulation. Also, he has a research in the field of water regulation. He published many scientific work in the field of feasibility and economic investigations of utilizing renewable energy sources in Jordan. Also, he supervised many B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. students who conducted their research in the field of fluid mechanics and renewable energy.

Prof. Al-Salaymeh was a local coordinator for an EU tempus project about the establishment of Master program on the renewable energy in the University of Jordan. The project is funded by EU in cooperation with Italy, Sweden and UK universities. He established the Master program in the field of Renewable Energy at the University of Jordan and the study was started in the program since September 2012.

Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is very active in the field of green energy and climate change. At the end of 2011, Prof. Al-Salaymeh got another EU-Tempus project for 4 years about the establishment of a master program in environmental engineering and climate change. He was the general coordinator of the project which has partners from Germany, Austria, Portugal and Syria in addition to other Jordanian universities. The project was funded by EU in cooperation with universities from Germany, Austria, and Portugal. He established the Master program in the field of Environment Technology and Climate Change at the University of Jordan and the study was started at the University since September 2013.

Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is a local coordinator for a number of EU-Tempus projects such as: MUREE Project (Modernizing of undergraduate curriculum in the field of renewable energy); CLIMASP Project (Establishment of a minor track in the field of Climate change); and JOINT-ITS Project (Establishment of a Joint master program in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems). The projects are funded by EU in cooperation with universities from Italy, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Austria, Greece, Cyprus, Poland and Slovenia.

Prof. Al-Salaymeh is the local coordinator of the DLR (German Aerospace Center) for CSP project about the transfer of knowledge and technology of concentrated solar power to Jordan and MENA countries. Prof. Al-Salaymeh is the Co-founder of DESERTEC University Network (DUN) in cooperation with partners from MENA and EU countries. Prof. Al-Salaymeh is a board member of DUN. Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh was an editorial member and a co-founder of EDAMA association in Jordan which deals with Energy, Water and Environment.

Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh got funded projects by USAID in the field of Water-Energy Nexus and the utilization of solar energy for water pumping. Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is the main researcher of the solar cooling project which was implemented at Hamdi Mango center and supported by the deanship of scientific research. He was the local coordinator for the center of Natural Resources Management (CNRD) which was supported by DAAD in Germany. Also, he was the coordinator for IWRM (Integrated Water resources management) Master program in cooperation with Cologne university of Applied sciences.

Prof. Al-Salaymeh is a coordinator of EU-ENPI project about the sustainable cities in the MENA countries in cooperation with Italy, Spain, Tunisia and Egypt. He is the local coordinator of the project which was funded by EU-ENPI.

In October 2015, Prof. Al-Salaymeh got a support from EU for 7 new projects under Erasmus plus call. The support for each supported project is about one million Euro and the duration of each project is 3 years. Prof. Al-Salaymeh is the general coordinator of one of these projects which entitled: Methods Project: Modernization of teaching methodologies in higher education: EU experience for Jordan and Palestinian territory.

Also, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is the local coordinator of

mEQUITY Project: Improving Higher Education Quality in Jordan using Mobile Technology for Integration of Disadvantaged Groups.

SEM-SEM Project, Smart Control Systems for Energy Management: New Master Degree.

In addition, Prof. Al-Salaymeh is the coordinator of the following projects at the University of Jordan:

INVENT Project, Promotion of Innovation Culture in the Higher Education in Jordan.

VTC Project, Vocational training center for undergraduate university students and teachers in Jordan

ENEPLAN project, Developing skills in the field of integrated energy Planning in Med Landscapes
