Micropiles: Uses and applications www.Prontubeam.com/en
We would like to show in this article the different micropiles types that exist and their real-life application, as we are aware that sometimes it is quite difficult to imagine how they really are when placed on site.
1. New structure’s foundations
In these images you may see an example of a foundation drill and its real-life application.

2. Underpinning of existing foundations
These may be really useful in those building sites where due to different reasons the existing loads have increased or in those cases when the soil or the existing foundations need to be repaired or improved.

3. Soil support
They are usually arranged in line or in bundles with different inclinations. At the same time, these groups will be joined together through a concrete foundation and anchored to the soil in order to increase their stability.

4. Slope stabilization
They are usually arranged in line or in bundles with different inclinations. At the same time, these groups will be joined together through a concrete foundation and anchored to the soil in order to increase their stability. They produce an increase in the slope shear resistance since the breaking surfaces are sewn by the micropiles.

5. Support umbrella
They are executed as support of the terrain during the excavation of tunnels, generally before the advance phase. They can be done throughout the tunnel or only in areas of special difficulty

Minimum coating
Concrete guides all around the world mention that the tubular reinforcements (*) should not be used as a support for the perforation and recommend that the tip does not rest directly against the ground. The use of centering devices is recommended to respect the minimum coating between the reinforcement and the ground. The minimum coatings to be respected are the following:
(*) Tubular armor: structural steel tube longitudinal to the micropile, which comprises almost all of its length and contributes to its structural capacity
I also leave a video for you to see how the process of micropiles is:
