The Peak Academy - Home Learning Group: Options Group Date: 29 th June –Week 5 T6 Subject: Art and Design Learning Outcome: Photography Project To make connections with the work of other artists and my own work (AO1 & AO3). Independently explore photographic elements, techniques and processes and apply this to your own work (AO2 & AO3). Learning Task: Explore the photographic elements ‘Colour’ Remember you should be able to make connections to other elements you have explored (composition, viewpoints, line, light and shadow, texture) and see how they may or may not work well with colour. It would be good practice to write down any of your ideas or observed connections (AO3). FIRST – We as humans thrive on colour, it nourishes our senses. It has a big impact on the audience (the person viewing your photograph). It can create mood, atmosphere, emotion as well as drawing the eye to a certain part of the photograph (composition). It also means different things to different people. Write down what each colour means to you or what you think about when you see a certain colour: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, grey and white. For example, does red mean anger or love? Does it remind you of Coca-Cola, KFC, post boxes or danger? NEXT – You need to pick 1 artist (from the examples or find your own) and do some artist research, you should use the annotation prompt sheet and it MUST be written/typed in your own words. Once this is completed pick your favourite photograph of theirs (linked to colour) and complete a photographer analysis. THEN – Take a range of photographs exploring the theme and using different methods and ideas. You need to take a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 photographs. Look for examples of colour that are both natural and manmade. Your photographs should also show naturally occurring colour as well as staged colour compositions (set up, arranges, laid out). FINALLY – Send your photos, Word and PowerPoint documents to Miss Gay. Remember this work is part of your GCSE coursework and will be developed further in September. We will get a chance to explore digital manipulation and other techinques. Key questions: What did you find most interesting about the photographic element ‘Colour’? Which is your best photograph? Why do you think it is your best photograph? Explain what elements you have used and how you have used them. What does spot colour mean and why is it an effective photographic technique? What are harmonious colours and how do they work? Give an example of a triad (3) of harmonious colours. Why do complementary colours work well together? What does monochromatic mean and how might you use it in a photograph? Useful support documents: Colour PDF. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/missgay_art/photography-year-9-2020/photography-colour/ Still use the resources from previous weeks, they will help you!
