Monday This week we would like you to read the book Supertato! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlaMeNmTG6c

Once you have read the book can you choose 2 of your favourite characters from the story and write some sentences to describe them!

Money (making the same amount)

Start by looking at, listing or drawing all of the different coins and notes.

Start with the coins and see how many different ways you can make the same amount of money. Move on to notes and coins.

Example:

See below for further ideas.

Does an orange float or sink?

Make a prediction to whether you think dropping an orange into a bowl of cold water will float or sink? Explain why you think this.

What if we took off the orange peel – make another prediction. Do you think it will float or sink and give a reason why?

Fill a small bucket/box with cold water and drop in orange with peel on.

Next take off the orange peel and drop back in the water.

What were your results?

Were they different form your predictions? Why?

Computing:

Can you research what the 5 rings represent in the Olympics?

Tuesday Can you make your very own supertato?? Once you have made it could write some speech bubbles from his mouth? Think carefully about what Supertato might say.

Addition (money)

Can you create your own number sentences and word problems ?

Dry Erase

All you will need for this experiment is a dry wipe marker, a glass bowl and some water.

First, with a dry wipe marker, draw a small picture of something

Art:

Tommy has £2.50, what items could he buy?

35p +£1 + 45 p =

Why not set up your own shop and add prices? You could go ‘shopping’ with your grown ups and use real money. Can you pay with the exact money?

you like onto the bottom of glass bowl.

Next, add a small amount of water to the bowl but enough to cover your drawing.

Observe closely and watch your drawing become a moving animation (move bowl slightly so water keeps moving).

You can then touch your drawing with the back of your hand and it may even stick to you!!

Don’t forget to include exciting adjectives and verbs!

Money (making change)

Using the shopping items from yesterday, can you pay for your items and work out the change?
