SECTION A1. Attempt all parts: (2X10=20)

a). What do you understand by PACKETIZING and FRAGMENTATION.b). Explain the term FLOODING in routing of network.c). What do you mean by unicast and multicast addressing?d). Find the classes of each address: i) 140.213.10.80 ii) 52.15.150.11e). What do you understand by 1-persistent CSMA?f). What do you mean by Process – to – Process delivery in transport layer?g). Differentiate between LAN, MAN & WAN.h). Explain connection less and connection oriented services.i). What is framing in data link layer. Give types of framing.j) Give details of various types of communication media.

SECTION B

2. Attempt any FIVE parts: (10*5=50) a) Explain classes of IP addresses with example.

b) Briefly discuss with diagram Stop-and-wait protocol? c) What is sub net masking? Explain types of subnet masking. Find the sub network address for:

(A) IP address 45.23.21.8 if mask is 255.255.0.0 (B) IP address 45.123.21.8 if mask is 255.192.0.0

d) Explain IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.4 standards with frame formats.. e) Differentiate between TCP protocol and UDP protocol also specify its port number. f) Explain format of TCP header. In following TCP header dump kindly explain

the details: 05320017 00000001 00000000 500207FF 00000000 g) With reference to the network topology given below, find the shortest path from the node A to F using the Dijkstra algorithm.

For Q No.3-b (ii) For Q No. 2-g

SECTION C3. Attempt any TWO part: (2x15=30)

a) i) What is congestion? ii) Explain congestion control algorithms (Leaky Bucket Algorithm and Token Bucket Algorithm).b) (i) Discuss count to infinity problem? (ii) Explain distance vector routing Algorithm. For following subnet, Distance vector routing is used and vectors that have just come into source C: from B (5, 0, 8, 12, 6, 2); from D (16, 12, 6, 0, 9, 10) and from E (7, 6, 3, 9, 0, 4). The measured delays to B, D and E are 6, 3 and 5 respectively. What is C’s new routing table?

c) i) Explain types of error correction and detection techniques . ii) Generate the CRC code for the data word of 110010101 with generator

polynomial X3 +1. Show the actual bit stream transmitted. Suppose the 3rd bit from left is inverted during transmission. Show that this error is detected at receivers end.
