Spring Workshop

Wayside Quilters Guild will be offering a workshop with Pat Pauly on Saturday, May 5 from 9:30-4:00 at the First Baptist Church in Sudbury. There are still a few openings left. Don’t miss out on this fantastic workshop.

Quilt by Pat Pauly

Pat was our speaker from last September. Pat’s lecture on "Contemporary meets Traditional", was fast-paced, informative and paired with a stunning array of her beautiful art quilts.

Pat will teach the quick steps to Improv Composition, with her handful of piecing techniques and tips on construction. We will make mini-works that can become a finished art quilt. The workshop is a great way to let go of templates and see possibilities develop in your art quilt.

Member price is $45 and $55 will reserve your friend or non member. Please contact Laura Lane to reserve your space.

Auction ResultsOur auction was a big success! We raised $2393.75! We also met our goal of getting non-members into the Grange to spend money. We actually ran out of number paddles. We used 20 more than last year! We couldn’t have done it without so many helpers this year. Thank you to Debbie Ehrman for publicity. Debbie got all those new folks to the auction. Kate Wellen did a lovely job with refreshments. Where would we have been without our wonderful auctioneer, Susan Thomas! Great job ladies!

So many more people helped by spending hours folding ironing and sorting the fabric, hauling everything to the Grange, donating amazing items, jumping in on auction night to keep things moving, helping us clean up in record time and by spending money! Thank you to all those who got the word out and participated.

Note to those who mistakenly took their paddles home. Please return them. Also, if you happen to have any spare paint stir sticks, we could use those as well.

We also support the Reach Beyond Domestic Violence, Trust House in Boston and the Pathways Shelter in Framingham. We can provide batting to complete your quilt. Let us know.

Raffle Tickets

Betsy Athan will have envelopes of tickets for each guild member at the May and June meetings. Your envelope will include six packets of tickets, a photo of the quilt and instructions. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, quite a deal for a chance to win our amazing raffle quilt! If you haven’t picked up your tickets yet, please do so this month. If you have already sold yours and need more, Betsy can get them for you.

Please try to sell all your tickets to yourself, your family, your friends, your coworkers, people you chat with at the coffee shop and even the people sitting next to you in the theater. This will be a significant part of our quilt show income. It is critical for supporting our great programs and we are counting on everyone to help out.

Let’s try to beat the $4000 we made last show.

Thank you all for your help and cooperation.
