I designed this cowl in a cozy and folded size, if you prefer it smaller you can easily adjust it to desired size. This personal interpretation of brioche stitch in crochet results in a reversible and elastic pattern: it just requires basic crochet skills and a little bit of extra patience. But the result will be worth it.

I hope you will enjoy crochetting it and of course wearing it! Please remember to give me credits tagging @agaveartesanias your finished items and linking to www.agaveartesanias.com if you share this pattern. Thank you!

With a slip knot on your hook, CH 36

Row 1) inserting the hook in the horizontal loop behind the chains, (as shown in the pictures)

HDC in the third chain from the hook and in every chain throughout the row (34 st). Chain 2 and turn the work

Row 2) *Yarn over, with the point of the hook pick up and lift gently the first loop immediately behind each stitch (as shown in the picture) then release it and insert your hook from the top down, pull the yarn through it to complete a HDC* Repeat this till there is only 1 stitch left: your last HDC will be made in the back loop of the stitch below.( 34 st)

Here you can see row 2 completed: one side of the brioche pattern starts showing up

Row 3) Chain 2 (counts as first HDC) and back loop HDC in every stitch from previous row . ( 34 st)

At the end of this row the reverse side of the brioche pattern appears.

Repeat row 2 and 3 till the desired width ( around 50-52 cm).

After your last repetition of row 3 you will be ready to sew together both the edges of your cowl, with a row of SS

-turn your work, CH 1 and starting by the front edge insert your hook from the bottom up in the loop indicated in the picture (red arrow in the pic) and then again insert your hook in the back loop of the chain stitch of the back edge (green arrow in the pic) now you can yarn over and pull the yarn through both the loops to complete a SS , taking care to keep the stitch quite loose to avoid tightening the sewing. Repeat till the end of the row, cut the yarn, fasten and hide the tails.
