It would be advantageous for participants to have a basic knowledge of free- motion quilting. Students may use my design ($5 for the pattern and print out) or use their own. If they would like to use their own design, they are required to bring a A3 colour and black and white copy, which has good contrast. Requirements list Fabrics: small amounts, large variety to choose from in white, yellow, red and blue/teal. Class participants could pool their fabric if they wish. ‘MEET JACQUIE’ FABRIC COLLAGE workshop

with Linden Lancaster

This is a two-day class suitable for all skill levels. It would be advantageous for participants to have a basic knowledge of free-motion quilting.

Students may use my design ($5 for the pattern and print out) or use their own. If they would like to use their own design, they are required to bring a A3 colour and black and white copy, which has good contrast.

Requirements list

Fabrics: small amounts, large variety to choose from in white, yellow, red and blue/teal. Class participants could pool their fabric if they wish. Make sure there is light, medium and dark tones of each colour. Bring your scraps.

I usually use cotton, but other types of fabrics can be used. My favourite fabrics to work with are: batiks, brights (such as Kaffe Fasette), spots, stripes, checks, text, aboriginal, hand dyed.

You could also choose your own colour scheme if you are feeling brave!

Here are some of the fabrics I used:

A soft grey lead or fabric marker

A light box (if you have one, or a window can be used)

Blue painters tape

Small sharp scissors

Acid free glue stick

Sewing machine with accessories, including a free motion or ‘darning’ foot (you probably will not need this until the second day)

Topstitch needle size 80

Basting pins and/or spray

Strong tape, such as packing tape

Backing approx. 15x20’

A small batting ‘sandwich’ for auditioning threads and quilting patterns approx. 12x12’
