Love actually

Love Actually are about multiple different stories and follows different people's lives throughout the run up to Christmas. But it goes into more depth with one story line about a prime minister who falls in love with his assistant.

In these scripts first page the slug line in this section of the script they are inside a recording studio with one of the main characters, it is scene number 1 the time of day is not included so maybe the director may not know what the time of day is so the viewer has to decide what time of the day it is and what the weather I like outside however due to this being a run up to Christmas the viewer will most likely imagine a dark gloomy day.

The format and layout of this page of the script shows the scene number and the narrator introducing why the film is called love actually then it goes straight into scene 2 with the main character Billy who is a famous singer and his manager Joe in a studio with him trying to record a new Christmas hit.

This film follows the three-act structure as the climax in the middle as this is the first scene it introduces one of the main protagonists and gives an overview of what the film is about during scene 1.

This films style is multi-strand as it follows multiple different stories and they all end in a closed structure

This film is a genre hybrid as it is a romantic-comedy.

The slug line in this part of the film is more specific as it is when tow of the main protagonist are having their first real conversation and because he is the prime minster they are in number 10 downing street the time of day would have been her working hours this shows two different peoples jobs the weather also isn’t shown in this scene so the director has left it again for the viewer to interpret.

The layout is very chatty as this scene is the PM and his assistant having their first small talk conversation so it’s very fast pace as their conversation is mean to show the two main characters getting to know each other.

The style as it said previously is a multi-strand story and this is scene 28 and the viewers are only just starting to see the main storyline due to the other stories being introduced before

In this scene it shows that the film is a genre hybrid as they are flirting and there is some comedy.

In this scene the slug line is the prime minter turns up to the schools play and many people are there he is also there with his assistant Natalie. Once again the weather isn’t stated however it is Christmas time so we can assume it would be cold. They could also be inside or outside during this scene.

The format of this scene is different as there are three different speakers and they are all talking to each other they are also talking about another character called Gavin this could make the scene confusing to read.

This shows the three act structure as the two people who are meant to be together do end up together

Due to this film being multi-strand at the end of the film all of the stories end up linking into one place so all the main characters can been seen together this also gives a strong closed structure of the narrative.

Finally it shows that the film is still about comedy as well, also this film is nonfiction as it can happen in a day to day life

Toy Story

The film Toy story is about a cowboy doll who is a young boy called Andy’s favourite toy till one birthday Andy gets a new toy called buzz this causes friction between the toys in Andy’s room so woody tries to get rid of buzz however, in doing so lands him and buzz into trouble with the mean next door neighbour so it is their mission to get back home without Andy knowing and all the toys have to pull together to help.

the slug line is very clean on the first scene of the clip as it shows the reader that the scene is number one also that it is being filmed in a internal setting it shows this in the bold writing it also shows you the location this being Andy’s room and finally the script doesn’t show the time of day however we can assume it’s not the evening.

Next the layout of this scene shows that it’s the final draft in the year 1995 there is also a description of the setting that Andy is playing in after this it goes into Andy pretending to be a potato head and playing with all of his toys whilst making a story from it.

This film is a three act structure it has a very distinctive beginning, middle and ends this is very common in Hollywood American films.

The style of this film is linear because it doesn’t have any flash backs or forwards this is because the target audience for this film would be very young and non linear narratives can be hard to follow.

Finally this film is fiction because this narrative can’t happen in real life.

the slug line in this scene is very different as its when the bad guy Sid gets woody and buzz Andy’s favourite toys, and takes them home o play with them however he isn’t nice. they are in external as Sid goes from the game place back home where the toys ca talk again and they start to get scare of what he will do to them it is also late at night

They layout shows Sid going back later at night to his house and the script describes the setting of where the toys are then they continue to go back inside and buzz and woody start to talk about their surroundings, looking for a way out.

This is the climax of the three act structure as this is the part of the narrative when a situation occurs because something has changed the equilibrium of the film and it needs to be resolved.

The style of the film is linear this shows the middle part of the film during the “problem” of the film.

Due to it being a fiction film the toys can’t really speak and this wouldn’t happen in real life.

In this final scene the slug line is showing Andy’s family in there van whilst woody and buzz have been making there great escape from Sid’s house and catching up to the moving van so they don’t get left behind.

The format of this scene is different as it goes from seeing woody and buzz trying to escape then into Andy sitting in the van and then the toys managing to get back into the van for Andy to find them just in time.

This portrays the three act structure as it has a closed ending as the problem is solved and there is then a balanced equilibrium again.

The style of this film is linear so there is a clear ending which is shown within this scene.

As previously stated the film carries onto being a fiction film and the toys managed to save the day.

Adventureland

James Brennan, a recent college grad, can't wait to go on his dream tour of Europe. But when his parents announce they can no longer subsidize his trip, James has little choice but to take a lowly job at a local amusement park. Forget about German beer, world-famous museums, and cute French girls-James's summer will now be populated by belligerent dads, stuffed pandas, and screaming kids high on cotton candy. Lucky for James, what should be his worst summer ever turns into quite an adventure when he discovers love in the most unlikely place.

The slug line of the first scene as shown on the script is internal and the setting is in a living room off campus and the time of day is shown and it states that it is at night this is all shown so the actors can have the same idea as the director in their heads so they come out with the best film they can.

The format is very generic conversation it also introduce the main protagonist and shows a basic conversation with hum and a girl.

This film is based on the three act structure because it has a closed ending and follows the beginning middle and end structure.

The style of this film is linear and follows one story line that we can see so far.

It is a non-fiction story as it can happen in real life.

In this scene the slug line shows that it is scene number 87 the location sis externals and they are in a dance club in and the time of day is that it is at night and there is also a beach parking lot scene.

The format is a woman who is drunk at a night club and her friends is trying to get her home safely they then go to the beach parking lot and the main protagonist needs to talk to someone.

This is when the middle of the three act structure comes into place and the equilibrium has been changed

It’s still following a linear narrative.

And the film is fiction as this can all happen.

The language on this scene shows the two main protagonists resolving their problems to each other the locations are outside.

The format and layout of this scene seems like an awkward conversation and they’re is a lot of actions in brackets showing awkward signs of their conversation however they seem to be resoling the it and changing the equilibrium back to an even state.

This is showing the resolution of the three act structure at the end and the two main characters sorting the problem out.

It still follows on the liner narrative is so a closed ending and they are getting over what has happened.

Finally the fiction style so the reader can relate to it and the actors can get into character.
