The issue does not affect Mexico politically or economically, but the indigenous people have a lack of representation in government and tend to live in poverty. Country PositionsMexicoPosition: Mexico believes that the United Nations should continue to raise awareness for cultural extinction through UNESCO. Mexico will continue to implement the National Climate Change Strategy to discourage deforestation which promotes a greener economy and in turn will prevent the homes of indigenous people from getting destroyed.National Interests: Socially, the unique cultures in Mexico are in danger of becoming extinct and indigenous people tend to assimilate to the dominant culture. The issue does not affect Mexico politically or economically, but the indigenous people have a lack of representation in government and tend to live in poverty.Alliances: Mexico has not sided with anyone because they are focused on stabilizing their economy and government.Resolutions: Mexico believes the UN should continue being involved in combating cultural extinction through UNESCO. In order to preserve the 60 languages that are on the verge of extinction, online dictionaries and smartphones can be used to keep documentation and prevent the languages from being lost forever.UN Actions: UNESCO was created and added the endangered cultures in Mexico to an “Intangible Heritage” list and these cultures are still on the list. UNESCO acknowledges how globalization has a negative impact on traditional cultures.

IndiaPosition: The position India is that the people consider the conformation into the Hindi language and the invasion of western ideas and culture into the small aspects of Indian society to be an unwanted change. On the other hand the Indian government has only recognized 18 official

languages in its constitution even though there is over a thousand minor languages and dialects spoken in India.National Interests:This crisis affects India socially when it comes to the connection between families, ancestors, and traditions. In the traditional Indian family, large families from young age to old live together and stories of ancestors and old traditions are passed on between family members. Now with the effect of western influence and industrialization, many family members choose to live separately, losing certain family ties. Politically, the various cultures are identified by many as "intellectual property". Other than that, economically, India has been affected by the British imperial economy instead of the traditional Indian economy. The Indian economy has changed over the years and has proven to be one of the fastest growing economies in the world.Alliances: There is proof that Indian society has sided with the Hindi and English language. Culture wise, the people of India seem to be conforming towards a western culture with western influences in music, film, and business. Certain Bollywood movies have been based off of western films and the name "Bollywood" itself derives from the American film industry of Hollywood.Resolutions: As stated by Saumil Gandhi: "This fear of extinction often leads me to question why people in the subordinate culture should go through this extreme loss of their ancient and beautiful culture; why should they live with this fear of their culture’s extinction and termination? Just because they are a minority does not mean that they must forfeit something so special and close to them." This shows there is a great concern with cultural extinction in India. There is still some who wish to preserve certain cultures in India by removing the mentality of western ideas being the only option for India's modernization. As briefly stated before, traditions and local dialects should be allowed to be taught at schools across India. UN Actions: It is evident that if the Indian government refuses to acknowledge the effect of cultural extinction the U.N could possibly support the creation of language classes and influence the Indian government to push for the many minority groups in its nation to take part in their local government.

RwandaPosition: Rwanda believes imperialism and power struggles can cause genocide. The genocide will and still divide Rwanda socially and culturally.National Interests: Rwanda was affected economically because many people lost their homes, shops, and other economic facilities were attacked and destroyed. Rwanda was affected socially because both Tutsis and Hutus will have a grudge against each other. Rwanda was hurt politically because they still don’t have a central government.Alliances: Rwanda sided with Hutus since their government was Hutu.Resolutions: In order for the conflict between Hutus and Tutsis both sides must come to a political agreement which allows both groups to operate and hold an equal balance of power.

BoliviaPosition: Bolivia believes that if the water people of Andes do not

receive aid of any sort, they will seize to exist, causing a disappearance

of their rich culture.

National Interests: Bolivia was affected economically because of the

drought, causing the water people of Andes to die of starvation or thirst.

Bolivia was affected socially because the water people of Andes became

dispersed, and displaced.

fight the drought and provide aid.

Resolutions: In order for the conflict to become solved, Bolivia has

agreed to provide aid to the water people of Andes and to create a united

front.

UN Actions: The UN should provide aid to the water people of Andes,

and help them get of the drought. The UN should get involved because it

involves people dying of hunger and thirst, it is an international issue

that ought to be recognized.
