Tutorial with Chris Cook

The main focus of the tutorial was how to present the collection of figurines. Unfortunately Chris has never seen the project and although he knew about it, he did not know about many aspects of it such as the manipulation and transformation of some of these figurines. I began by showing Chris
the way I recorded each of these figurines.
We talked about my back ground in theatre and the apparent desire to stage these figurines. I mentionned my great admiration for the work of Pina Bausch , Lalala Human steps etc…
I then showed Chris the different settings I played with , such as a staircase or a glass cabinet
Then we talked about the manipulation of some of these figurines
And Finally we talked about the display for my crit in Dartington. Althouth I am not convinced it really worked it gave Chris an idea of how I was thinking of grouping some of these figurines. We talked a great deal about the theatricality of the work and whether or not it would be appropriate to explore this aspect even further , Chris even suggested the use of a curtain to reveal the install ation. We imagine various possibilities to invite the audience to walk within the installation.
Chris suggested some books , Milan Kundera “The Unbearable Lightness of Being”, Bruce Chatwin “Utz” and encouraged me to research about the history Of Kitch.
We did not really talk about the sound which I intend to have within the display .
