Designing Documents
Before you start make sure you have copied this booklet into your Communication folder in your Year 7 ICT folder.
You are studying a book in English called ‘Carrie’s War’; we will also be studying elements of this text in ICT. There are three objectives to this unit.
LO1- Use your current knowledge of the book ‘Carrie’s War’ to create a PowerPoint presentation.LO2- Develop your ICT skills in this topic through PowerPoint and the MOS exams.LO3- Evaluate your understanding through a final reading and ICT exam in the summer term.
Your task is to create a PowerPoint presentation discussing the facts of the evacuees in the Second World War. You need to have six slides in your presentation including a title slide. You will be given the opportunity to plan each individual slide which you will be working on in English and ICT lessons. You must include information on the following:
Why children were evacuated How they were chosen and the journey to Wales What life was like for an evacuee – positive/negative? Evacuees in the Rhondda What happened after the war? Your personal response to the themes within the text.
You will be given some information in class but there is also an element of independent research and you will be expected to find and read over information on your own.

Before you hand in a piece of work to your teacher you should always check it for mistakes. This is called PROOF-READING. Microsoft programs have a useful tool to help you check for spelling mistakes. (Click Review – Spelling & Grammar).
Use the Spelling & Grammar checker to check your PowerPoint.
