IntroductionThe overall goal for this project was to design, develop and construct a packaged game which meet the criterions of that it must be fun to play, must engage human senses other than visual, has to be challenging and enabling the player to develop skills each time the game is played by players. Additionally the game would also have to provoke reflections, self-sufficient & self-explanatory, be original and reproducible.

As for the final game concept that we have developed, it has been directly meeting the requirements of the criteria relating back to the brief. With the concept being original in design, “Number Baseball” is the game that we have developed. It’s a game that allows the players to engage senses other than just the sight and fun to play. As well as that this game has allowed the players to challenge and compete in teams of 2 or more, also to develop skills and strategies every time the player plays it.

Deliverables In order to achieve above requirements for the game, the following must be delivered:

3 concept maps to frame the game's concept portfolio;

12 distinct game design concepts, all of which must include:

o A name;

o Thumbnail sketch/picture and;

o A unique back-of-the-box description so games can be differentiated.

A framework of criteria for evaluating at least 5 game concepts and;

User feedback of the project so that the final product can be improved.

Page 8: group38.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewWe assessed our games based on four aspects on the first Organic Map that we have done. This is related to our criteria that meets the requirement

We assessed our games based on four aspects on the first Organic Map that we have done. This is related to our criteria that meets the requirement of the games. The first aspect is based on the Key Success needed to win the game which could be either skill or luck. Some games involve skills of actually playing the game and the knowledge within the game to actually win such as sports. Most sports game requires the players to know and learn beforehand the rules and extra practice in order to win.

On the contrary, some games may rely on fully luck, such as games that mostly involve dice and/or drinking games. The scale is then taken into consideration on how we are going to shape our game according to our set of standards. The second aspect that we assessed our game on is the Form and involvement of the game. There are different forms of game that can make a game fun, for our scale we primarily divided it into intangible and physical.

From there we fit all of the 50 random games including 12 of our own concept games into the four quadrants on the map to see where it sits.

From this organic map we learned a new method that we can apply to construct our game which is the design map. This skill has

been very useful from the beginning of project 2 in building and making games from scratch. This skill is ideally useful especially as

more ideas are retrieved.

Page 10: group38.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewWe assessed our games based on four aspects on the first Organic Map that we have done. This is related to our criteria that meets the requirement

The same list of games was populated again into another organic map. The aspects were chosen from the environment the game

can be played for and what kind of strategy that suits this whole game.

Fast Response and Logical thinking was undertaken into strategy and the environments chosen were silent and crowd pleasing.

Criteria evaluation framework The criteria evaluation frame work for evaluating our concepts. So we made our own framework of criteria for evaluating our different concepts. All 12 different games will get the result each. With the result, we will show the result of an analysis of our four concepts (including our final concept) against the criteria.
