We have also learned ie, ay, ou, oy and ir from phase 5 (these are alternative spellings that they learn in year 1 and 2 but I find it useful for them to become familiar with it now so they get better with their spelling.

MathsDay 1Introduce counting in 2s, demonstrate by counting an amount of objects in ones and then in 2s the benefit of it being quicker, also explaining that as you are not counting each one, you skip a number as you count. Practise this several times counting different amounts of objects in 2s. Then ask your child to write their numbers in order 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 then write in 2s together 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 ask what they notice, what is different? What is the pattern?
