Teaching Staff and School Assistants Enterprise Agreement 2017 Key Relationships On a functional basis the Preparatory School Teacher Librarians will provide general supervision and direction. All Preparatory School staff are accountable to the Head of Preparatory School and ultimately responsible to the Principal via the Director of Corporate Services. Position Objective: The Library Assistant undertakes a range of administrative and clerical functions to facilitate the efficient operation of the Senior School Library and provides assistance to all library users and visitors, in line with the friendly, customer-orientated ethos of Westminster School libraries. The Library Assistant is required to demonstrate para-professional library expertise and accept personal responsibility. Key Responsibilities: Provide library services to students and staff, including circulation desk duties, assistance with reference queries, on-line services and supervision of students using the library Build knowledge of and maintain library collections including magazines, fiction, non-fiction, class sets and various loan equipment Perform administrative, clerical and technical duties including processing new resources, reshelving, processing overdues, book covering, repairs and equipment maintenance Use the OLIVER library automation system proficiently to fulfil duties above Support the application of library operating procedures and policies

Key Relationships

Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience Sound organisational, clerical and numerical skills Ability to prioritise and follow library procedures Sound word processing skills and good working knowledge of MS office programs Relevant qualification in library studies/administration or similar is desirable

Key Selection Criteria: Personal Qualities Demonstrated initiative and the capacity for self-direction Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to relate well to teachers and students Customer service oriented

Safety and WellbeingAll staff must:

Take reasonable care of, and cooperate with actions taken to protect, the health and safety of both themselves and others

Report all accidents, incidents and hazards to their supervisors as soon as is practicable Read and abide by all WHS policies.
