MESSAGE FROM THE EAST
Brethren,As you all have noticed we have not
been putting out any bulletins lately. This is the first in a very long time. Our lodge is in dire straits, however it’s not financial problems that we face today. Our lodge is going through a time that all entities go through if they are around long enough.
Right now our problem is a lack of people to do the work. It’s been coming for years now, we have lost the columns to our lodge one by one until now we have just a few knowledge keepers left. As well, there are not enough people to pass the knowledge down to. Our meetings are barely being attended. We all understand that our personal lives are extremely busy and that the world is moving at a pace that is unbelievable.
My goal is to reach out to you my brothers, and request that you come back and assist in that great and good work. I will admit that there is not much to come back to right now. Just a few firefighters and front line people trying to keep the doors open and the lodge open. So where as it may not appear to be too much right now, with your participation we can build that superb edifice that we can all be proud of. A place that we can gather and study those things that will make us better men.
I want to say that we are not asking for money, in fact money is the wrong solution for this. The lodge needs your hearts and minds. With those combined we can bring Latonia 746 back to what we once were.
To all those who are shut in for various reasons. What we need from you is your thoughts and prayers. Also if there is anything you need from us let us know. Our number of active members are small but we will do what we can.
Below are some of the up-coming events:
Thursday August 27 we are having a dinner and a mock degree for the EA.
Sept 3rd we will be having our stated meeting. (refreshments at 6:30pm)
September 12th we will be taking the trailer and selling food at the Taylor Mill Festival.
If you can come to any of these please contact us and let us know.
I and the core of officers would love to hear from you. Together we can build a great structure.
Peace be to all you:Joshua Logan McCain
Master Latonia Lodge 746
WHAT IS MASONRY?The answer is simple. A Mason, or
Freemason, is a member of a fraternity known as Masonry. A Mason is a man who has decided that he likes to feel good about himself and others. He cares about the future as well as the past, and does what he can, both alone and with others, to make the future good for everyone.
WHAT DOES A MASON DO?The Masonic experience encourages
members to become better men, better husbands, better fathers and better citizens. The fraternal bonds formed in the Lodge help build lifelong friendships among men with similar goals and values.
Masons are deeply involved in helping people. The Freemasons of North America contribute more than $2 million a day to charities, representing an unparalleled example of the humanitarian commitment of the Masonic Fraternity. Much of that assistance goes to people who are not Masons. The Shrine Masons operate the nation’s largest network of hospitals for burned and orthopedically impaired children, and there is never a fee for treatment. The Scottish Rite of Masons maintain a national network of more than 150 childhood language disorder clinics, centers and programs. Other Masonic organizations sponsor a variety of philanthropies including scholarship programs for students and perform public services in their communities. Masons also enjoy the fellowship of social and recreational activities.
Even though Masons (freemasons) are members of the largest and oldest fraternity in the world, and even though almost everyone has a father or grandfather, or uncle who was a
mason, many people aren’t quite certain just who masons are.
