Parental Declaration

I am aware that Dance Kamp will include strenuous activity and therefore have inherent risks. These activities will cover a variety of dance genres and will include acrobatic work alongside limbering and stretching. I confirm that my son/daughter has no pre-existing medical condition that may prohibit him/her taking part.

My son/daughter will receive the appropriate safety briefing but must be aware of the need to follow instruction and behave in a safe and sensible manner.

I will instruct my son/daughter that whilst on site it is strictly prohibited for him/her to travel between buildings unless accompanied by a registered adult.

I will instruct my son/daughter that they must stay in the dorm room after lights out until breakfast bell unless there is an emergency.

I understand that if my child is involved in any sort of prohibited behaviour, including (but not limited to) drinking, drug taking, smoking or sexual activity of any form I will be called to collect them at any time of the day or night. If such behaviours were to occur and parents were asked to collect their child no refund of fees will be given.

I understand that any less serious behavioural issues in the first instances will incur a warning from staff and should that behaviour continue the parent will be notified.

I give consent for any filming or photographs taken of my son/daughter during the stay to be used for publicity purposes by Kings Dance Kamp.

Please note that while the event is insured this does not include personal accident cover, if this type of cover is required you should arrange this with your own insurance company.

I will make sure that all personal belongings are clearly marked with my child’s name and understand that any valuable items (Phone, Ipad etc..) are bought along at the individuals own risk and we will not be held responsible if such items are lost, stolen or damaged.

Lea Green House rules are `lights out` at 10pm and all residents are to comply with this regulation out of courtesy to other guests. No technology must be used after this time.

The use of mobile phones are prohibited during classes and such items should be left in dormitories.

What should I bring with me?

Please make sure items are all named.

You will need three days’ worth of dance gear

- Leotards - Tights, footless tights and ballet tights - Joggers or leggings - All dance Shoes - Over 12s must have crop top and shorts for certain workshop.- PJ’s - Underwear- Personal Hygiene products - Towel - Holdall to put all items in (a size that you can manage yourself)- A small amount of money for the tuck shop - A Track suit and trainer or similar as it can be chilly when walking across

to the gym.

Oh and bring lots of smiles and a great attitude and energy!!!

Guest Tutors

CHRIS GAGE

Chris trained at the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts, Circus Space and the Central School of Speech and Drama. He had his West End debut at age 15 playing Snake in Oliver! (London Palladium) and after completing his training had many roles in international tours and West End productions such as:- The Lord of the Rings (original cast, Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), Broadway (Palace, Myrtle Beach, USA), Spirit of the Dance (international tour), Nintendo’s Pokemon (creating the role of Ash which resulted in a residence at the Aladdin Casino, Las Vegas), West Side Story, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies (Adelphi Theatre) where he was also aerial/acro supervisor, Die Meistersinger (The Royal Opera House) where he was once again aerial/acro supervisor, and many others. Chris also worked at the Greenwich Millennium Dome with Andrew Watson (director of creation for Cirque du Soleil) in which he starred in Ovo, the central arena show, as an aerialist 42m high. This gave him a taste for altitude and he is now a qualified skydiver! His other work includes:- Rebuild the Roundhouse (Roundhouse), aerial specialist in Phflaster Specktakel (Linzer Summer Festival, Austria), various pantos around the UK and television/radio in the UK and abroad. His audio recordings include:- The Lord of the Rings (world premiere cast). In 2012 he worked with director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) and performed in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Since the Olympics Chris has worked on many other projects including “Wendy & Peter Pan” at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and a UK tour in the circus musical "Barnum" produced by Cameron Mackintosh and starring Brian Conley where as well as performing he is also circus captain for the show. He can be seen this November performing with the English National Ballet in “Romeo & Juliet”. He can also be seen this December playing Michael Darling in The World’s Biggest Pantomime “Peter Pan” with Bradley Walsh, Martin Kemp and a cast of 100 performers at the Arena Birmingham and SSE Arena in Wembley. Chris is a professional acrobat, but has also trained in skills such as:- Stilt Walking, Poi Spinning, Fire Breathing, Staff, Tightwire, Stage Combat, Trapeze, Aerial Hoop and Silks to name but a few!

KARRIE HAMMERSELY

Karrie began her pole journey in 2010 after getting bored with several other types of fitness. She was instantly hooked and hasn’t stopped since! Karrie began teaching in 2013 and set up karrie’s pole fitness in 2014 getting pole dance community certified and becoming a qualified in fitness, pole fitness, stretch and flexibly. Karrie also started Ariel hoop on 2014 and after being already strong from pole she really enjoyed hoop and set up classes in 2016 which are very popular.

In 2016 Karrie competed for the first time and at regional professional level she won 3rd place! In 2017 Karrie competed and won 1st place at regional level in semi-pro, and at national semi pro won 2nd place, best tricks and best costume. Since then Karrie has travelled internationally to teach pole workshops and shared her experience and knowledge with other pole enthusiasts.

GEMMA TUOHY LAPIN (KARRIE’S ASSISTANT TEACHER)

Gemma has been attending pole fitness since 2014 and has been trained by Karrie’s pole fitness, Gemma went on to be a shadow instructor soon after. She passed her qualifications early 2016 and has been hard working for the last 3 years attending workshops with famous pole dancers, getting first aid certified and being super creative with pole routines. Gemma has been teaching Ariel hoop since early 2017 and is great at chorography and has great creativity.

ELLIE COBB

Ellie is professionally trained in musical theatre. She has worked in theatre, film and television throughout her career. A few past credits include: swing "We Will Rock You”, ensemble "42nd Street”, assistant choreographer, BBC “The Peoples Strictly” Resident director “Thursford Christmas Spectacular”, dancer, BBC “The John Bishop Show”, resident dancer, ITV "pop star to opera star ”, dancer “Thursford Christmas Spectacular”, soloist "Spirit of Broadway UK Tour" vocalist/dancer "songs from the musicals”, dancer, 20th Century Fox, “Mrs Henderson Presents".Ellie also dances as part of the new Tiller Girls line up and is very proud to be part of such anIconic dance group. She is proud to teach the next generation of performers and is a resident teacher at professional college, Addict Dance Academy in Leicester

MADELEINE WATERS

Madeleine started dancing at the age of three in Calgary, Canada and moved to London at 18 to pursue dance. She danced for Years and Years during their festival circuit summer 2016 and performed at festivals such as Glastonbury, Vfest and Bestival. She performed at the O2 and Wembley arenas as well as on The Voice UK and BBC Music awards.Madeleine has been a featured dancer on M&S and Lidl Christmas TV campaigns, she ha performed on the S Factor stage with Busted and danced for a live performance by Birdy. She has been a part of music videos with artists such as Ellie Goulding, Robbie Williams, Years and Years and the Cold War Kids.

Madeleine has taught classes all across the UK and EU and Canada and she now teachers a regular open class at Pineapple Dance Studios in London and a Studio 68.

RICKY JINKS

Ricky Jinks is a dancer, teacher and choreographer in London who has his own unique and versatile style. He studied street dance and latin and ballroom as a child and then at 15 began many other styles. He is a resident teacher at the two top studios in London; Pineapple and Studio 68. His professional credits include performing for Kylie Minogue and the X Factor Final 2016 at Wembley Arena, performed at Wembley Stadium for 'Kiesza' at the Capital FM Summertime Ball, a dancer for 'The Voice' of Ireland on over 15 live shows and performed at venue's such as The Royal Albert Hall and the NEC, Birmingham. He has many TV credits including 'Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway' featuring Michael Buble, ‘This Morning’ dancing with Honey G, 'Surprise Surprise' – all on ITV. He has recently worked with Brian Friedman as a dancer for contestants on the X Factor and continued to do many gigs with Honey G such as ‘Big Brother’,. He is a proud member of Lukas McFarlane's contemporary company 'UnTitled' in which he has been an assistant choreographer for music videos and 'So You Think You Can Dance?' in Portugal. Ricky has just finished a UK tour with UnTitled's latest show 'The Suffocating Truth' from January-March ‘17. Ricky has also choreographed many other events including TV shows, Ideal Homes Exhibition, DHL, Soccer Aid, Clothes Show Live and most recently choreographed for a TV pilot for ITV. He judges many competitions including ‘Can You Dance?’, UDO, BDO and Soar UK and teaches at many prestigious colleges in the UK which have included Urdang, Bodyworks, Wilkes Academy, Rare Studios, Addict Dance Academy. The past year alone, Ricky has taught workshops in places such as China, Cyprus, Denmark, Dubai, Spain and Paris.JOSH WHARMBY

Josh Wharmby is a dynamic new Liverpool born, London based commercial choreographer, who’s innovative and fresh choreography sets the stage alight. After studying different forms of dance from an early age, he graduated from the prestigious Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts under the direction of Sir Paul McCartney, and was immediately in demand as a professional dancer. He has worked steadily in the industry since, appearing in television programmes such as ‘X Factor’, Chatty Man, the National Television Awards, and the Brit Awards among many others,

working with many international stars, including Taylor Swift, Alexandra Burke, Nicole Scherzinger,Kylie Minogue, Stooshie, LMFAO, One Direction, Take That and Rita Ora. As well as being very familiar with working within a tv studio, Josh has had much experience performing at theatres and bigger venues, including Wembley Stadium, London’s 02 arena and the MEN arena. Josh has worked with numerous choreographers, including the world acclaimed American choreographer Brian Friedman & Beyonce's resident choreographer JaQuel Knight. In 2015, he was assistant choreographer on the international Disney movie ‘Tini’, working alongside creative director Jerry Reeve. His particular linear style of choreography worked very well on the big screen, so he was an important and welcome asset to the creative team. His diverse knowledge of different performance canvases allows him to choreograph to as small or as large a scale as required, so when he was offered the job of assistant choreographer to Shaun Niles and creative director Aicha McKenzie for the Rugby World Cup closing ceremony in 2016, his inventive, powerfulchoreography and his knowledge of working big stages and venues enabled him to translate his ideas easily into a larger than life performance at Twickenham Stadium. Most recently he was assistant choreographer on ITV's newest dance show 'Dance Dance Dance' and went on to become choreographer of Season 3 of 'Dance Dance Dance' Holland. He has the unique ability of producing original, spellbinding choreography that reflects today’s trends yet keeps the integrity of the style with phenomenal results. His dedication to his craft and genuine love for what he does, along with his professional, hardworking and down to earth attitude make him a respected colleague and a favourite ‘go to’ guy to get the job done!TOM BOND

Tom a Managing Director of Midlands based performance company ‘Kristian Thomas Company’ and is a professional Musical Director and trumpet player. He trained at Leeds College of Music where he gained his degree in Jazz.

Tom will be Musical Director for Derby Arena's Beauty & the Beast this Christmas. KRISTIAN CUNNINGHAM

Kristian is 23 years and graduated from Urdang Acdemy in 2015, where he has trained professionally in Musical Theatre. Following his training he signed with ‘MacFarlane Chard Associates’ and is now continuing to complete professional contracts and audition for work within the professional industry. He Runs a performing arts company based in the East Midlands, Kristian Thomas Company and regularly produces full scale productions as well as classes two tribute bands an much more.
