Thought for this week….by Rev. Michelle Martin

On Trinity Sunday, we reflect on the closest of the relationship between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are so close in fact, that despite being three different persons, they are one.

And, just when you think this is hard enough to get your head around, we remember Jesus’s words:

“. . . may they all be one. As you, Father are in me and I am in you, may they

also be in us . . .” John 17: 21

We are invited to be one, as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one. We are invited into that unique relationship – the depth of which we cannot even begin to grasp.

I leave you with a reflection from David Adam in Encompassing God:

God, in being one with youWe are one with each other. You are in the other person

And through them speak to me. By attending to the other,

Page 3: stjohnsfishponds.files.wordpress.com€¦ · Web viewHoly God, faithful and unchanging: enlarge our minds with the knowledge of your truth, and draw us more deeply into the mystery

Help me to grow in your love.God, it is in you alone

That can we reflect the unityThat belongs to all creation.

We are one in youAnd you, Holy One, are in us.

Amen.
